  • Patent number: 6676172
Abstract: An anesthetic vaporizer has a receiving part devised for connection to a collar-equipped bottle, the receiving part having a locking device for locking/unlocking the bottle. Improved connection is achieved by providing the receiving part with a tubular section with a tube wall and an internal cavity, with a through opening arranged in the tube wall enabling the bottle's collar to move past the opening when the bottle is attached to the receiving part. The opening extends down at an angle to the center line of the tubular section, and the locking device has a resilient locking element partially arranged in the opening.

  • Publication number: 20030230308
Abstract: A medical ventilator has a user interface with a screen adapted to display curves representing function parameters for the medical ventilator, a memory unit for storing target values for the function parameters, and a control unit for controlling the medical ventilator dependent on the target values for the function parameters stored in the memory unit. A simplified method of modifying or programming the medical ventilator is achieved through adaptation of the user interface to register a new curve and/or changes to a displayed curve performed by a user on the screen and to transfer these to the memory unit for storage as new target values for the function parameters.

  • Patent number: 6640807
Abstract: A high frequency oscillator (HFO) ventilator has an oscillator unit for alternately supplying a volume of gas (“oscillator volume”) to and removing the oscillator volume from a proximal end of a gas conduit at a predetermined high frequency. The gas conduit has a proximal end connectable to the oscillator unit and a distal end connectable with the patient's airways. Located between the proximal end and the distal end is an inlet for receiving a continuous flow of a bias gas from a supply, and an outlet. The ventilator further has a flow controller adapted to apportion, between the distal end of the conduit and the outlet, the volume of gas supplied by the oscillator unit to establish a predetermined inspiration tidal volume for delivery to the patient's airways independent of the oscillator volume.

  • Publication number: 20030151012
Abstract: A valve assembly HAS an element movable in a mechanical journal arrangement relative to a valve opening to establish an opening position of a valve, and A control unit for controlling the application of an oscillatory electromagnetic force to the element (8) having an known peak amplitude to cause the element to execute a sympathetic oscillatory motion as a friction reducing maneuver. The control unit is adapted to control the peak amplitude of the oscillatory electromagnetic force to sequentially apply a number of different peak amplitudes, each during a different measurement period. A monitor detects changes in the opening position of the valve during each of the measurement periods and provides a measure thereof. A processor is connected to the control unit and to the monitor to determine a working amplitude of the oscillatory electromagnetic force at which the detected changes will be minimized and to supply the determined working amplitude to the control unit.

  • Patent number: 6578575
Abstract: In order to select an optimal ventilation mode for mechanically ventilating a patient, from among a number of ventilation modes, a mathematical description of the patient's respiratory system is produced in a computer from measured parameters related to properties of the respiratory system, and in the computer the mathematical descriptions for different modes of ventilation are tested on the mathematical description to obtain simulated results. An operator can selected a mode of ventilation to be analyzed by comparing the simulated results with a therapeutic goal, so that an optimal ventilation mode can be selected. Alternatively, the computer can iteratively test a number of modeled ventilation modes to identify the ventilation mode which comes closest to the therapeutic goal.
