  • Patent number: 7963136
Abstract: Processes for continuous production of a thin metal strip, in particular a steel hot strip, directly from a metal melt and with a strip cast thickness of <10 mm by the roll-casting process. The cast metal strip is fed for in-line thickness reduction, and then to a storage device. To achieve a high-quality, hot-rolled metal strip with flatness tolerances comparable to those which can currently be achieved in the production of hot-rolled metal strip from continuous-cast thin slabs or slabs, at cast thicknesses of between 40 and 300 mm, in a continuous production process starting directly from metal melt. With the low strip cast thickness, a flatness measurement is performed on the moving metal strip, and the measurement results of this flatness measurement are used to influence the flatness of the metal strip in a targeted way.

  • Patent number: 7645321
Abstract: A method for the production of ore comprising a proportion of fines, additives and green agglomerates optionally containing a binder, provided with an outer coating consisting of a combustible containing fine-grained carbon, such as coke. According to the method, the ore is mixed with the additives and the optionally available binder. The mixture is pelletized and the green agglomerates thus formed are coated with the combustible, whereby the combustible is introduced into an agglomeration drum. In order to enable continual production of homogeneous-quality green agglomerates, the mixture is pelletized in the agglomeration drum and the combustible is added in an area of the longitudinal extension of the agglomeration drum where the size of the green agglomerates formed in the agglomeration drum is sufficient for further processing.

  • Publication number: 20070289878
Abstract: A method and a device (13) are disclosed for the electrolytic pickling of flat metal products (2), in particular special steel and/or carbon steel strips. At least one diamond electrode and/or at least one lead/tin electrode, for example a lead 93/tin7 electrode (15) is used. The special characteristic of the diamond electrodes and/or lead/tin electrodes is the form of water replacement. Whereas in electrolysis water is usually split into hydrogen and oxygen, the diamond electrode and/or lead tin electrode provides a working range in which ozone or highly reactive hydroxyl radicals are formed instead of oxygen. As a result the pickling times are significantly reduced in comparison to the conventional chemical descaling, and also in comparison to the conventional electrolytic pickling.
