Patents Assigned to Sigri Great Lakes Carbon GmbH
  • Patent number: 5509993
Abstract: A process for the preparation of a laminate of at least one metal layer and at least one layer of flexible graphite includes producing a non-detachable bond between the graphite and the metal without using a mechanical anchoring device and without using a known adhesive. Initially, a contact surface-active agent from the group including organosilicon compounds, perfluorinated compounds and metal soaps is applied in a thin layer to at least one of the surfaces to be bonded. Then the surfaces to be bonded are brought into contact and bonded together by the action of pressure and heat.

  • Patent number: 5387172
Abstract: A cylinder or roller for paper, plastic or material webs is formed of a plastic material reinforced with fibers and is used for the purpose of transporting, deflecting or web guiding. Instead of a layer covering the casing and being applied with an electrolytic method or by a thermal spraying method, an abrasion-resistant layer of a synthetic resin and a filler of a powder of abrasion-resistant material is used.

  • Patent number: 5281479
Abstract: An ordered packing for mass transfer and heat exchange processes includes pre-formed individual parts. The packing is formed of carbon fiber-reinforced carbon with carbon fibers or carbon fiber yarns, which are linked one with the other by way of textile bindings, as a filler and of a matrix carbon, preferably based on synthetic resins.

  • Patent number: 5211220
Abstract: Better mechanical properties are achieved with tubes for shell and tube heat exchangers by providing a coating on the tubes which is formed of fibers and a fluorine-containing polymer covering the fibers. The tubes are formed of fluorine-containing polymers whose use in heat exchangers is normally limited by the comparatively small compressive strength and fatigue resistance of the tubes.
