Patent number: 8307218Abstract: A system for securely vaulting, auditing, controlling and transferring electronic transferable records (TRs) with unique ownership, including at least one registry for registering the electronic transferable record with unique ownership in a TR registry record; at least one secure storage manager (SSM) associated with the registry, the SSM storing the transferable record registered in the registry as an authoritative copy, the secure storage manager being distinct from said registry. The transferable record can be transferred in a transaction between an originating party and a receiving party with a transaction descriptor including information about the parties involved in the transaction and an identification of the TR being transferred. The transaction descriptor is initially signed by the originating party with the TR, subsequently verified and countersigned by the registry and signed by said accepting party.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2008Date of Patent: November 6, 2012Assignee: Silanis Technology Inc.Inventors: Michael Laurie, Robert Al-Jaar, Alexei Savchenko

Patent number: 6931420Abstract: A method for the separate authentication of a template and of data inserted therein. A template is provided with a template ID and a template Data Authentication Code (DAC(t)). User data is inserted in the template, and then extracted to be handled separately. A DAC(d) is generated on the user data by itself, and stored in an Approval Data packet with the template ID, DAC(t) and the user data. The complete document with the template and the user data can later be reconstructed. The method may be useful for many industries that rely on templates for collecting data.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Silanis Technology Inc.Inventors: Joseph Silvester, Ed Milczarek, Tommy Petrogiannis

Patent number: 6912660Abstract: A computer-based system providing for the electronic approval of documents in parallel. An electronic document is issued for approval by a user at one point in time at some location. It can subsequently be accessed by other users, who can then electronically approve the documents simultaneously or serially. The technology alerts users to any unauthorized modifications which may have been made to the document during subsequent approvals. A document authentication code (DAC 0) is generated, linked to the original document. Subsequent approvals of the document generate a DAC x related to that specific approval as well as approval information such as an individual's handwritten signature as well as any other identifying information (Name, date and time of signing, biometrics, voice, fingerprint, picture, etc.) which may be required for the approval process.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1999Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Silanis Technology Inc.Inventor: Tommy Petrogiannis

Patent number: 6751632Abstract: A method is described for creating an authenticated, verifiable reproduction of an electronic document. A master document is first created in a first format, and a DACm is created and linked to or stored with the master document. The master document is then opened and the DAC of the opened document is verified. If the DAC of the opened document is equal to DACm, the reproduction can proceed. The master document is then converted or reproduced into a format different from the first format to make a reproduced document. A DACr is created for the reproduced document, and DACm and DACr are either embedded into the reproduced document or stored in a linked storage system. Accordingly, two different versions of the master document exist, but each can be verified and authenticated separately. The method of the present invention provides for increased security in an environment where electronic documents can be created in one format and converted into another format.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: June 15, 2004Assignee: Silanis Technology Inc.Inventor: Tommy Petrogiannis
