  • Patent number: 4464174
Abstract: In a seal for two compartment mixing syringe having an outer barrel with an inner barrel partially disposed therein, and a seal on the dispensing end of the inner barrel, and a plunger disposed in the inner barrel, the improvement is wherein the seal is a combination of an aperture in the dispensing end of the inner barrel and a plug disposed in the aperture. The plug has a cylindrical portion of resilient and compressible material adapted to be compressibly disposed in the aperture but displaceable from the aperture by fluid pressure exerted by movement of the plunger in the inner barrel. A reduced diameter portion of the plug provides a fluid pathway between the inner barrel and the outer barrel when the cylindrical portion is displaced from the aperture by such fluid pressure. An increased diameter portion prevents the plug from passing through the aperture and into the outer barrel.

Abstract: An eye drop dispenser consisting of a flexible container having an open neck defining a nozzle through which liquid is dispensed, includes an eye drop cup removably secured to the neck of the dispenser and having a free edge for engaging the eyelids of a person using the dispenser, in order to hold the eyelids against movement during application of eye drops to the eye. The cup is secured to the neck of the dispenser through an opening formed in one end thereof, which opening receives and engages the neck of the container with a portion of the neck extending through the opening and into the cup. A cover is provided for the cup and container, which cover has a top portion and an integral elongated stem.
