Patent number: 6497299Abstract: Drive apparatus (2) for a cycle (4), comprising an electric motor (6), a first pulley (8) driven by electric motor (6), a second pulley (10), an endless belt (12) which passes around two pulleys (8, 10) and is driven by first pulley (8), and a swinging link mounting (14). During use, endless belt (12) is in driving engagement with a tire (16) of a wheel (18). Mounting (14) enables the distance between centers of first and second pulleys (8, 10) and tire (16) to vary during use of drive apparatus (2), which enables drive apparatus (2) to exert on tire (16) a varying contact pressure which increases as transmitted torque increases. Mounting (14) comprises an attachment for attaching drive apparatus (2) to cycle (4), and a pivot (24).Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2000Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Assignee: Sinclair Research LimitedInventors: Clive Marles Sinclair, Alexander Joseph Kalogroulis

Patent number: 4612484Abstract: A line scanning circuit for an electrostatically deflected cathode ray tube uses two integrator circuits having single transistor amplifiers for complementary conductivity types with capacitive feedback to provide balanced sawtooth drive waveforms. The charges on the capacitors are reset by pulses at line frequency and the forward sweeps of the sawteeth are produced by current flowing from the input of one integrator to the input of the other integrator. A variable resistor in the current path provides width control and a transistor connected in series with the current path enables dynamic adjustment of the scan to be provided to suit the scanning characteristics of a flat cathode ray tube. A signal from the field scanning circuit during flyback is applied to turn off the transistor in the current path so that the spot is returned during field flyback up one side of the screen.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1984Date of Patent: September 16, 1986Assignee: Sinclair Research LimitedInventors: James S. Patent number: 4460908Abstract: Printing apparatus for use with electrosensitive paper includes a scanning means in the form of an endless belt 11 suspended between pulleys 13, 14 and carrying writing styli 17. The styli are scanned across the paper 15 as the belt rotates and writing signals are applied from a control circuit 24 via a conductor strip 19 to the stylus which is in contact with the paper. Stylus guiding surfaces 20, 21 are provided to keep the stylus running along a straight edge, and position signals are generated by a transducer 27, such as an optical encoder, so as to synchronize the writing signals.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1982Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Assignee: Sinclair Research LimitedInventor: David C.
