  • Patent number: 6012252
Abstract: A turnstile with a housing, a drive and a locking element with a barrier arm is set in motion following verification of the access authorization of a user wishing to pass, rotating the barrier arm from its blocking position into a position out of line of passage. The advance of the user is then detected by a downstream sensor, in particular an opto-electronic sensor, which causes the barrier arm to rotate further in the same direction into the blocking position.

  • Patent number: 5825393
Abstract: To print a card-type data medium that has a thermosensitive layer, the data medium is passed through a flat channel defining a level transport path provided with a bulge. Situated in the bulge is a thermal print head set at a distance outside the transport path. Opposite the thermal print head, on the other side of the channel is a pressure contact roller which can be moved through the transport path toward the thermal print head. The device preferably has a bar code reader, a magnetic strip reader and an IC reader.

  • Patent number: 5704163
Abstract: In a turnstile with a housing, a drive shaft and barrier arms projecting therefrom at offset angles, after the right of entry of a passing user has been checked, a drive motor is started up contactlessly in order to rotate the turnstile from the blocking position of a barrier arm to a subsequent narrow-angle stop position. The approach of the user to the barrier arm in the stop position is recognized by an electro-optical sensor which is arranged behind the barrier arm in the direction of passage when in the blocking position in order to rotate the turnstile contactlessly into the next blocking position.

  • Patent number: 5478995
Abstract: A data carrier for a non-contact data communication with a control station controlling a passage to an area or space comprises a carrier base structure, a data sending-receiving unit, a non-volatile, electrically erasable and programmable memory, a liquid crystal display for displaying data, and a solar cell unit for providing power. When the data carrier is approached to the control station, data are received from and transmitted to the control station which checks and/or changes the data content of the memory. A means for making visible the stored data on the liquid crystal display, e.g. a microprocessor, and the liquid crystal display are powered by the solar cell unit. The data carrier can be designed as a disk and handled like a coin. A housing of the data carrier can be provided with a cord wound on a spring acted spool.

  • Patent number: 5355630
Abstract: A motor driven turnstile for providing cyclic access to a passage (16) to which a monitoring system or the like is allocated. The turnstile is controlled in such a way that, after a satisfactory monitoring result, each blocking arm (4) is first taken from the blocking position to a stopping position located at a small angle (alpha) from the blocking position, in which, after external pressure applied by the user, the arm is once again driven by the drive motor (6) and turned further until the next arm is in the blocking position.

  • Patent number: 5202550
Abstract: For automated communication in a limited acquisition space, for example in order to identify or check an access authorization, use is made of active data supports which comprise a transmitter (15), a receiver (16), a read-write memory, an electric clock, a computer, a display and a power source (7). The checking station is also provided with a transmitter-receiver to check and possibly modify the data. Each transmitter-receiver has a limited communication space, of which the maximum extent is less than the minimum extent of the acquisition space. In this way it is not necessary to plug in the data support, of which a precise point must, however, be deliberately brought close to the checking station. In this way a definite coordination between the checking station and a further data support is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5124535
Abstract: In order to control or identify an authorization of access, use is made of a control station which has two different read-write systems. The first unit is designed in particular for remote control of active date carriers comprising a microcomputer. The second read-write system is designed for the control of passive data carriers, on which the data are stored in a magnetic or optical form. Preferably both read-write systems are provided with parallel outputs, to which a switching system is connected, which passes to the peripheral systems the output signals produced by means of the desired data carrier.
