Patents Assigned to Skydome Industries Limited
  • Patent number: 6059438
Abstract: A lighting system for an interior of a building and the like includes a stack (102) of fluorescent sheets for collecting and converting sunlight into concentrated light. The stack (102) is of a substantially rectangular prism shape having top and bottom surfaces, opposed side surfaces defining therebetween a width of the stack (102), and opposed end surfaces defining therebetween a length of the stack (102), wherein the length of the stack (102) is sufficiently greater than the width of the stack (102) such that its aspect ratio as herein defined is greater than 4.0. The lighting system also includes a flexible light guide (104) for channeling the concentrated light to a light emitting fitting for the interior of the building or the like. The light guide (104) is optically coupled by optical joint (103) with the stack (102) through one of the end surfaces of the stack (102).

  • Patent number: 5709456
Abstract: A lighting system for an interior of a building and the like includes a means (30) for collecting and converting sunlight into concentrated light. The collecting means (30) is optically coupled, preferably by way of optical joint (43), coupling means (44), and optical joint (45), to a channelling means (46), such as an optical cable, so that the concentrated light passes to the channelling means (46) and is channelled to a light emitting fitting for the interior of the building and the like.

  • Patent number: 5596848
Abstract: An adjustable skylight assembly adapted to suit a variety of roof pitches includes a domed structure having an upper transparent portion and a base by which it is secured to the roof. Within the domed structure, there is an adjustable collar to which is connected a duct for communicating sunlight from the domed structure to a room beneath the roof. The collar can be rotated with respect to the domed structure so that the axis of the collar and the duct can assume a predetermined position regardless of the pitch of the roof.

  • Patent number: 5548490
Abstract: A lighting system for an interior of a building includes a device for collecting and converting sunlight into concentrated light consisting of a stack of fluorescent sheets. The collecting device is optically coupled, preferably by way of an optical joint to a channelling member such as an optical cable, so that the concentrated light passes to the channelling member and is channelled to a light emitting fitting for the interior of the building. The channelling members are formed such that their cross-sectional shape changes from the cross-section of the collecting device to the cross-section of the channelling members with an approximately constant cross-sectional area being maintained throughout the change of cross-sectional shape, whereby the coupling device is an optical joint created by a medium having a refractive index close to that of the collecting device and channelling members.
