Abstract: An emergency lighting controller includes a first circuit responsive to an alarm signal or warning signal. The first circuit accepts positive or negative polarity input signals and detects the presence or absence of a signal in order to produce an output signal clearing a monostable timer circuit. The monostable timer circuit produces a predetermined duration signal upon receiving an alarm signal. In accordance with the predetermined duration signal produced by the monostable timer circuit, an astable timer or oscillator circuit activates and deactivates an output control circuit in accordance with the frequency and duty cycle settings of the astable timer circuit. The output control circuit switches power on and off to a relay or a lighting circuit to provide a visual indicator of an emergency state that may require evacuation of the premises.
