  • Patent number: 8552843
Abstract: A universal remote controller having a radio frequency (RF) control mode for generating RF signals for controlling an RF based home automation system and having an infrared (IR) control mode for controlling an infrared based electronic device using IR control signals. Control information input via a user interface is used to generate the IR control signals in the IR mode of operation and is used to generate the RF signals in the RF mode of operation. A control unit controls overall operation of the universal remote controller including the generation of IR signals to control electronic devices with the IR signals. A home automation module is connected to the control unit via a communication interface to generate RF signals to control the RF based home automation system. A display displays feedback information to the user regarding operations for controlling the home automation system.

  • Patent number: 7057122
Abstract: A remote controller has a sliding switch which has more than two contacting positions linearly disposed, and a sliding lever to switch among the contacting positions. A slider engaged with the sliding lever and the slider has an angle portion. A first cam piece has a first V-shaped notch to fit the angle portion of the slider. The first cam piece corresponds to one or two of the contacting positions located in a central portion of the sliding switch. A second cam piece has a second V-shaped notch to fit the angle portion. The second cam piece corresponds to two of the contacting positions located on side portions of the sliding switch.

  • Patent number: 6967300
Abstract: A key assembly has a circuit board, an elongated flexible key, and an elastically deformable support. The flexible key has a center and two side portions. The side portions and the elastically deformable support each have electrically conductive regions that are positioned over electrical contacts of the circuit board. A sufficient downward force on the flexible key causes one of the electrically conductive regions to contact the underlying electrical contacts. With this configuration, the key assembly provides an electrical output signal even if the human operator applies the downward force on a side portion instead of on the center portion of the flexible key shell.

  • Patent number: 6141223
Abstract: A battery assembly is provided for holding a battery and for supplying power to an integrated circuit. When the battery is removed from the battery assembly, the battery assembly provides a LOW level signal to either the high voltage input (Vdd) of the integrated circuit or the reset port of the integrated circuit. The battery assembly includes a battery holder, a negative electrode attached to the battery holder and electrically connected to the a negative power line related to the integrated circuit, and a positive electrode also attached to the battery holder and connected to a positive power line to provide power to the integrated circuit. The positive and negative electrodes are disposed such that the battery may be held between the positive and negative electrodes, with positive and negative terminals of the battery in electrical contact with the positive and negative electrodes. The negative electrode includes an electrically conductive extension.
