Abstract: The tank (1) carries on one side ears (3) which are downwardly curved and, on the other side, planar perforated ears (5) on which are clipped tubular spacer members (19) of plastics material. Clipped on supports (9) of the supporting structure (10) are clips (7) of plastics material provided with an arcuate slot (6). In order to place the tank in position on the structure, it is presented at an angle so as to insert the curved ears in the correspondingly arcuate slots (6), then it is brought to its position of use with the spacer members then fitting on screws (16) rigid with the structure. The assembly is completed by the tightening of nuts (18) on these screws. Application in the fixing of fuel tanks of plastics material on automobile vehicles.

Abstract: A two-speed drive coupling for connecting an engine of a motor vehicle with an accessory such as an alternator. The coupling comprises a driving member and a driven member with a sun gear being mounted on the driven member. A planet gear wheel holder is carried on the driving member and carries planet gear wheels which mesh with the sun gear and with a crown gear locked against rotation and surrounding the sun gear. A unidirectional coupling is provided between the driving member and the driven member and a centrifugal clutch between the driving member and the holder. At low speeds of the driving member, the clutch is engaged and the driven member is rotated at a greater speed than the driving member through the planet gear wheels and the sun gear. At higher speeds of the driving member, the clutch disengages and the driven member is rotated directly by the driving member through the unidirectional coupling.

Abstract: A vehicle has a rear deck for covering a luggage boot. The deck is formed by a removable shelf adjacent the back of the rear seat and which covers a part of the boot and a roller curtain which can be extended to cover the remainder of the boot. The shelf also carries at least one roller blind, in the form of a sun blind, which can be extended to lie in front of the rear window.

Abstract: A tool for lapping internal surfaces of holes. Lapping tools conventionally have an expandable working portion for variable diameter operation. Known tools tend to expand in a barrel shape leading to inaccurate lapping. The invention seeks to avoid this by providing a working portion of a tubular tool with slots in a plurality of rows each having several slots. Slots in each row are staggered relative to those in adjacent rows.

Abstract: An apparatus for removing a dead-head from a casting comprises a device for exerting on the dead-head or the casting a force which does not pass through the joining neck between the dead-head and the casting. This force generates bending moments which cause the dead-head and casting to break apart at the neck. The force can be applied by a fluid-actuated cylinder which acts on the dead-head or casting either directly or via a linkage comprising one or more levers.

Abstract: A device for controlling the expansion of an expansible grinding tool includes control means for effecting controlled axial movement of a cone in the tool. The control means includes a screw engaging a fixed nut and controllably rotatable by a driving motor, the resultant axial movement of the screw being transmitted to the cone. The expansion control device is provided in the form of a removable grinding head unit arranged to be inserted between a grinding machine and the grinding tool. The grinding head unit also includes means for transmitting rotary motion from the grinding machine to the grinding tool.

Abstract: An electronic fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine wherein the amount of fuel injected is metered according to variations in the injection pressure. Mechanical injectors having a preset opening pressure are fed from a distribution chamber which, in turn, is fed by a fuel circuit pressurized by an electronically controlled fuel supply flow. The fuel supply flow is the difference between the flow through an inlet injector receiving fuel under pressure and that through an outlet injector regulating the return flow of fuel to the reservoir, these injectors being of the continuous flow electromagnetic type. The fuel supply is frequency controlled by a computer and regulated by a servo loop to assure a constant richness. The preferred embodiment is particularly adaptable to a low priced electronic fuel injection system using mechanical devices whose precision is relatively unimportant.

Abstract: A piston type internal combustion engine operating on the stratified charge principle with the object of nonpolluting combustion wherein the engine has a standard valve-charging with a rich mixture. After admission of the rich mixture a quantity of air is introduced into the combustion region opposite the spark plug, before ignition, through the exhaust valve opening or by an independent valve opening into the combustion chamber or a precombustion chamber. The introduction of air can be effected either by the exhaust valve with a precombustion chamber being associated with the inlet valve or exhaust valve.
