Patent number: 4126482Abstract: New polythiols-polyesters and corresponding polysulphides in the --SH group wherein sulphur is contained in the alcohol residue after the formation of esters. These polyesters are derived from aliphatic polyacids, saturated or not, wherein the molecule contains a minimum of 15 atoms of carbon. They are formulated by the action of a mercapto-alcanol on the corresponding polyacid, in a liquid which gives an azeotropic mixture with water. These products are useful as additives to asphalts, bituminous products, coatings, mastics and cements.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1976Date of Patent: November 21, 1978Assignee: Societe Nationale des Petroles d'AquitaineInventors: Jean Baptiste Signouret, Albert Nicolau

Patent number: 4108866Abstract: An improved method of producing dialkyl-sulfoxides by oxidizing corresponding dialkyl-sulfides with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous acidic medium. It remedies the drawback of the similar prior art as concerns the separation of the sulfoxide formed from its reaction medium. The new method permits of easily recovering the sulfoxides in the state of good purity. The improvement consists in mixing the reaction medium with a large proportion of a solvent capable of yielding an azeotropic mixture with water. Then, after oxidization, the water is removed by distillation as azeotropic mixture. Preferably solvents are used which dissolve the dialkyl-sulfide but do not dissolve the sulfoxide formed; heptane is a particularly useful solvent. When an excess of the solvent is used, there is obtained, after distilling off the azeotropic mixture, a slurry of sulfoxide and solvent, easy to separate.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1977Date of Patent: August 22, 1978Assignee: Societe Nationale des Petroles d'AquitaineInventors: Bernard Tramier, Raymond Delourme, Philippe Fresnel

Patent number: RE28864Abstract: A process for automated regulation of a unit producing sulphur by oxidation of hydrogen sulphide, in which the flow of gas carrying oxygen into the unit is regulated so as to keep an operating parameter, based on measurement of the sulphurous compound of the residual gases, level with a reference value. It is characterized by the fact that the control signal, used to regulate the flow of gas containing oxygen at the unit inlet, is a combination of a signal based on measurements taken at the inlet, and representing the theoretical flow of this gas needed to keep the operating parameter at its reference level and another signal representing the correction needed in this flow to adjust the instantaneous value of the parameter to the reference level. This process allow better control of the sulphur unit, with increased efficiency and reduced atmospheric pollution.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1975Date of Patent: June 15, 1976Assignee: Societe Anonyme dite: Societe Nationale des Petroles d'AquitaineInventors: Guillaume Andral, Michel Carmassi, Bernard Louvel, Jacques Maurice, Georges Vandesande
