Patent number: 11529534Abstract: A dual air vent assembly for wet pipe fire protection sprinkler systems allows air or gas to vent from system pipes as they fill, without spilling any water into the fire-protected environment, even if an air vent valve, operative to discharge air or gas but not fluid, fails. A shut-off valve is upstream of the first air vent valve, and a reservoir is downstream of it. Small amounts of water that escape the first air vent valve are collected in the downstream reservoir, and evaporate. The reservoir also collects fluid if the first air vent valve fails. In response to fluid in the reservoir at or above a predetermined level, the shut-off valve is actuated to arrest the flow of fluid into the first air vent valve. No water escapes the assembly, even if the first air vent valve fails. Patent number: 9999792Abstract: A dual air vent allows air or gas to be vented from a wet pipe fire protection sprinkler system, but inhibits water from spilling out. A conventional first air vent valve is operative to vent air or gas as a pipe is filled with water, but not vent the water. However, it may discharge a small amount of water when the pipe fills and substantially all air or gas has been vented. The output of the first air vent valve is not released into the protected premises, but rather is routed to a reservoir having a second air vent. Air or gas is vented through the second air vent, but any water discharged by the first air vent valve is retained in the reservoir. The reservoir is connected to the pipe by a one-way valve which allows air flow in either direction, and allows water flow from the reservoir to the pipe, but blocks water flow from the pipe to the reservoir. Patent number: 9616262Abstract: A corrosion prevention treatment of wet Fire Protection System (FPS) includes purging the pipes of O2 with an inert gas such as N2, followed by filling the pipes with deoxygenated water generated “on the fly” as the water enters a building, using one or more Gas Transfer Membrane (GTM) devices and N2 gas. The GTM device eliminates the need for a water reuse tank and its associated pipes, valves, recirculation regimen, and the like. Water is pumped directly from the building water supply to a GTM device, where it is deoxygenated to very low O2 levels—such as below 300 ppb (parts per billion). The deoxygenated water then flows directly into the O2-purged pipes of the FPS. Publication number: 20140048290Abstract: To prevent corrosion, the pipes of a wet fire protection system (FPS) are purged of atmospheric oxygen by displacing in the pipes with an inert gas, such as nitrogen, prior to filling the pipes with water. After oxygen is purged from the pipes, they are filled with deoxygenated water which contains an O2 concentration of 500 ppb or less. The lack of dissolved oxygen in the deoxygenated water prevents O2 molecules from outgassing from the water into spaces within the pipe containing N2 gas. The dearth of oxygen in the system provides long-term corrosion inhibition.
