Abstract: A vacuum actuated and sustained ammonia feed system for the pH adjustment of power plant condensate and boiler feed water is described. This system can provide a safe means of providing anhydrous ammonia for pH adjustment to the condensate/feed water system of a power plant.
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for regulating the flow of a two-phase composition containing a liquid and a vapor, as well as for stable-delivery of the liquid, vapor, and/or two-phase composition to a process/location, which includes a feed conduit, a separation chamber, and a flow control means, where (1) the separation chamber contains an inlet, a liquid outlet, and a vapor outlet; (2) the feed conduit is operatively connected with the inlet; and (3) the flow control means is operatively connected with the liquid outlet or the vapor outlet and regulates the flow of the liquid through the liquid outlet or the flow of the vapor through the vapor outlet.
Abstract: An actual real-time reactive power output reserve of a generator is calculated by determining a real-time reactive power output of the generator at present operating conditions, determining a maximum reactive power output of the generator at the present operating conditions based on a maximum volt-ampere output capability of the generator, a real-time transmission voltage level of a transmission system connected to the generator, and a real-time maximum acceptable generator terminal voltage, and subtracting the real-time reactive power output from the maximum reactive power output.

Abstract: An improved three-component velocity probe for use in measuring velocity of non-uniform gas flows. Specifically, a new probe geometry enables characterization of a flow in three dimensions in large scale applications. The three-component gas flow velocity probe is a cylinder having three equally spaced sensing ports located on the cylindrical surface in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder and having two recesses in the cylinder transverse of the length of the cylinder. The recesses are on the opposite sides of the three sensing ports and equally spaced from the sensing ports. The five sensing ports are connected to pressure sensing means remote from the probe to determine the gas flow velocity.
Abstract: A battery which facilitates the measurement and recording of data is provided. The battery has a transparent casing wall and a scale attached to the wall for measuring the level of electrolyte within the battery. The scale contains first measuring indicia for measuring the distance the electrolyte level falls below a high level mark, and second indicia aligned literally opposite and having values, for example, specific gravity value correction factors, correlating to those of the first indicia.
Abstract: An economical full capacity integrated heat pump water system which utilizes the basic components of conventional heat pump systems and a hot water heat exchanger incorporated in the system. The invention may be operated in three refrigerant flow configurations, with five associated operational modes. In one configuration, the refrigerant flow is from the compressor, through the hot water heat exchanger, through the outdoor heat exchanger, through an expansion device, through the indoor heat exchanger and back to the compressor. In a second configuration, the refrigerant flow is from the compressor, through the hot water heat exchanger, through the indoor heat exchanger, through an expansion device, through the outdoor heat exchanger, and back to the compressor.
