  • Patent number: 5365499
Abstract: A snooze alarm clock having a housing including a depressible snooze actuator in the housing and movable between an off position and an on position. The clock has a lid hingedly connected to the housing and containing a clock display. The lid has a portion which contacts the snooze actuator in the off position when the lid is in a substantially closed position relative to the housing and which rests lightly on the snooze actuator. The portion of the lid which contacts the snooze actuator depresses the snooze actuator into the on position when the lid is pressed into a fully closed position against the housing.

  • Patent number: 4697930
Abstract: A transformerless power supply and display energizing circuit for a clock circuit with a duplex optoelectronic display driven by a low voltage integrated clock circuit having positive and negative voltage input terminals and the duplex display having a first terminal connected to a first common cathode and a second terminal connected to a second common cathode of the display for energizing it. The transformerless circuit is powered from an AC source. An impedance, which may be either resistive or reactive, reducing the AC voltage to a level suitable for the integrated clock circuit. The transformerless circuit generates synchronous DC level-shifted pulse trains for driving the positive input terminal of the integrated clock circuit alternately between a first voltage and a reference voltage while synchronously driving the display first terminal between said first voltage and a voltage of equal amplitude and opposite polarity. The display second terminal is held at the reference voltage.

  • Patent number: 4388002
Abstract: A connector arrangement for an a-c. clock mechanism which includes a drive coil and drive train mounted in a housing formed of a plastic base plate and plastic cover member of shallow cup shape. The drive coil has a core and bobbin, the bobbin being secured by embossments in the housing so that the rear end thereof is spaced from the adjacent side wall to form a wide access space. A pair of vertically spaced axially extending prongs mounted on the edge of the bobbin and electrically connected to the drive coil project into the access space. An access opening in the adjacent side wall of the housing alined with the prongs on the bobbin provides entry into the access space. The access opening is of arbitrary cross sectional shape and small enough to preclude entry of a connector of conventional design. For supplying current to the drive coil the a-c. line cord has a connector with a tip portion cross sectionally fitted for snug reception in the access opening as well as a handle portion alined therewith.

  • Patent number: 4201293
Abstract: A package for protection and display of an object such as a clock which includes a base having narrow pedestals extending upwardly along the lateral edges, pedestals having respective overhanging portions extending horizontally inward. The spacing between the pedestals is substantially the same as the lateral dimension of the object and the inside height of the overhanging portions is substantially the same as the height of the object. Embossments are provided on the base presenting a pair of retaining edges spaced inwardly with respect to the front and back edges of the base, the spacing between the embossments being substantially the same as the depth dimension of the object, the base pedestals and embossments being formed of resilient foamed plastic so that the object is held captive and cradled against movement in any direction with respect to the base. The base is enclosed by an inverted cup-shaped shell of transparent plastic having a lower edge snugly conforming to the profile of the base.

  • Patent number: 4073130
Abstract: A chime clock has a cam mounted to rotate with the clock's minute hand shaft. A cam-follower mechanism actuates striking mechanism in response to clockwise rotation of the minute hand shaft and cam. Structure is provided to prevent the cam-follower from obstructing rotation of the cam and minute hand shaft in a counterclockwise sense, as when setting the clock's minute hand by turning it backwards.

  • Patent number: 4050236
Abstract: A clock has an ornamental pendulum which serves an aesthetic function but does not control the clock mechanism. The pendulum is mounted for free swinging movement on an oscillating shaft in such a manner that, when the pendulum swings in synchronism with the oscillating shaft, the pendulum will be driven by the shaft, but, when the pendulum swings out of synchronism with the oscillating shaft, the pendulum will eventually stop swinging. Adjusting structure is provided to impart to the pendulum a natural period of swing which is in synchronism with the oscillating shaft.

  • Patent number: 4036005
Abstract: Clock with mechanism for striking one two-note tone on the quarter hour, two two-note tones on the half hour, three two-note tones on the three quarter hour and, on the hour, a single note tone corresponding to the particular hour indicated. A latch and rack structure control the number of strikes at quarterly fractions of the hour and the rack and a snail cam control the number of strikes at the hour.

  • Patent number: 4036004
Abstract: A clock has a striking mechanism separate and discrete from the clock mechanism. The two mechanisms are located in side-by-side relation and aligned by a pin common to both mechanisms. The striking mechanism comprises striking means and control means, for limiting the strikes to a predetermined number corresponding to the particular time indicated by the clock. Both the striking means and the control means are actuated, through respective linkages, by a driven gear pivotable between a driven position in which the driven gear is in meshing engagement with a constantly rotating gear, driven by the clock mechanism, and a disengaged undriven position. Part of the control means on the striking mechanism is synchronized for continuous movement with the hour hand shaft on the clock mechanism using a linking gear mounted on the pin common to both the clock mechanism and striking mechanism.
