  • Patent number: 7184098
Abstract: A system and method for reducing periodic intensity variation in a video image includes applying input signals representing video image data to multiple circuit components by sequentially shifting the input signals through the circuit components to produce output signals that match corresponding input signals. Matching the output signals to the input signals overcomes the effect of inherent differences in characteristics of analog circuit components. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 6057820
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling the contrast in a dot-matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) is provided wherein the voltages applied to the electrodes is phase shifted. The phase shifted electrode voltages avoids the problem that rows of the dot-matrix LCD may have long periods when the voltage on the front electrode and the back electrode are different polarities so that the contrast of the dot-matrix LCD across the rows is improved.

  • Patent number: 5903248
Abstract: A pixel driving circuit (400) receives a signal voltage VA from a column bus (403) and generates therefrom, a back plate electrode voltage VB which is approximately twice that of a signal voltage VA. Included in the pixel driving circuit (400) are three transistors (402, 407 and 408) and a storage capacitor (404). During a first time period, two of the three transistors turn on to charge up or discharge the storage capacitor to the signal voltage VA, while the third transistor (407) is turned off, and during a second time, the third transistor (407) is turned on to effectively double the voltage provided to the back plate electrode, while the other two of the three transistors are turned off.
