Abstract: A labeling apparatus for continuously labeling containers with printed labels from a continuous roll of backing material includes a continuous release liner web of backing material in roll form. The continuous release liner web of backing material has a plurality of labels adhered thereon at spaced-apart label regions using a pressure sensitive adhesive. The continuous release liner web of backing material is configured to allow the labels to be removed therefrom without damaging the labels. A feeding mechanism is configured to continuously dispense the continuous release liner web of backing material with the labels adhered thereon. A peel plate includes a peeling edge over which the continuous release liner web of backing material is drawn by the feeding mechanism. The edge of the peel plate has a shape that promotes a leading edge of the labels to loosen from the continuous release liner web of backing material as the corresponding label region is drawn over the peeling edge.
Abstract: A method for use in determining product counterfeiting and diversion is provided. The method includes locating an overlay on a label associated with a product. The overlay delineates areas of the label, each area having an identifier associated therewith. Presence of a taggant is detected within one or more of the areas using a reader. The taggant is hidden from sight and provides an indication of its presence that is detectable by the reader.
Abstract: A label includes indicia disposed on a facestock comprising cellophane. In one embodiment, the indicia are screen printed onto the facestock. In another embodiment, the label may further include layers of tactile coating selectively applied to discrete areas of the facestock to create distinct raised portions on the label. The tactile coating may be applied to correspond to the location of the indicia, wherein the raised portions overlie the indicia. A separate layer of primer may be applied to the facestock to cover substantially an entire side of the facestock. A plurality of such labels may be provided in a stack to an automatic labeling machine for application to a series of containers. The label may be applied to a container and the raised portions of the label provide tactile feel which enhances the aesthetic qualities of the label and container.
Abstract: An adhesive coated label includes indicia disposed on a facestock and layers of tactile coating selectively applied to discrete areas of the facestock to create distinct raised portions on the label. The tactile coating may be applied to correspond to the location of the indicia, wherein the raised portions overlie the indicia. A separate layer of primer may be applied to the facestock to cover substantially an entire side of the facestock. A plurality of such labels may be provided on a web of release liner which has been formed into a roll. The label may be applied to a container and the raised portions of the label provide tactile feel which enhances the aesthetic qualities of the label and container.
Abstract: An adhesive coated thin film label and a method for applying a thin film label to a substrate. The thin film label has a thickness less than 1.0 mil and is die cut to define a label shape. The label includes visible indica and adhesive is applied to one side of the label film for bonding to the substrate. The label may further be provided in roll form mounted on a release liner.
