Patent number: 8637780Abstract: A portal and method facilitate routing and holding at least one electrical cable having a plug end. The portal may include a body which fits into a hole in a mounting surface and has a cable opening therein. A closure member moves between a closed position and an open position relative to the cable opening. A retainer movably mounted to the closure member confines the cable in a desired position to inhibit the plug end from moving back toward the interior of the portal body and to permit the plug end to be pulled substantially freely away from the body.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2012Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Thomas A. Patent number: 7448502Abstract: A media storage organizer and method as disclosed relate to a storage device for attachment to a support structure to hold a collection of media objects in a side-by-side generally upright manner. At least one organizer mount secures a media object support transversely to the support structure and helps the support to move along a path of travel generally parallel to the plane of the media objects. A stop limits the forward movement of the support to a display position. In one embodiment, at lease one retainer may be disposed above the media object support and spaced from an end thereof for engaging a media object to help limit the number of media objects positioned on the media object support.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas Hunt

Patent number: 6988627Abstract: Storage devices and methods for storing and accessing items that are adapted to support an item in at least two positions, a stored position and an ejected position. In the stored position, an item may be aligned with adjacent items to allow a user to view a perimeter edge of each item. A latch support secures the item in the stored position, and permits the unlatching of the item to permit it to rotate under force of gravity to a stable ejected position. In the ejected position, a portion of the desired item protrudes the alignment, allowing a user to easily grasp and remove the desired item without disturbing adjacent items.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2002Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas Hunt

Publication number: 20040065629Abstract: A multimedia storage device for supporting packages is disclosed. The device includes at least two spaced-apart rails, each rail having at least one series of package supporting portions. A front retainer and a rear retainer is adapted to confine a plurality of packages therebetween. A cross-bar may be provided to secure the rails in a spaced-apart configuration. One of the retainers may be adapted to glide along the rails. The gliding retainer may include a glide portion having a central portion and a pair of wings. Each wing may be adapted to secure the glide to a rail and to enable the glide to be movable along the rail.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2003Publication date: April 8, 2004Applicant: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Hunt, Thomas E. Publication number: 20030192837Abstract: A storage tray and method for storing and accessing at least one item are disclosed. The disclosed embodiments are adapted to support an item in at least two positions, a stored position and an ejected position. In the stored position, an item may be aligned with adjacent items to allow a user to view a perimeter edge of each item. A latch support secures the item in the stored position, and permits the unlatching of the item to permit it to rotate under force of gravity to a stable ejected position. In the ejected position, a portion of the desired item protrudes from the alignment, allowing a user to easily grasp and remove the desired item without disturbing adjacent items.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2002Publication date: October 16, 2003Applicant: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas Hunt

Patent number: 5740924Abstract: The organizer rack component includes a pair of parallel, spaced apart elongated rails for engaging an item of furniture, and a series of parallel, spaced apart cross members or ribs connected integrally at their opposite ends to the rails for defining a series of elongated access openings or apertures to receive boxlike articles therein. The ribs are spaced apart by a given distance sufficiently larger than the corresponding dimension of the article to enable the ribs to receive and retain the article therebetween. Pegs or ears extending outwardly from the rails are received in spaced apart openings in the furniture item to enable the organizer rack component to be held securely thereto in an aesthetically pleasing manner.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1996Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas A. Patent number: 5685423Abstract: A multi-media storage tray for storing mixed media items such as compact discs, audio tapes Sega cartridges and Nintendo cartridges and video tapes. Dividers are located on a two-level (top and lower) divider support. The dividers and the divider supports are arranged so that the tray can be essentially filled with any combination of the above mixed media. A set of first dividers located on the top level and spaced about 1 inch apart accommodates approximately 1-inch wide video tape cases. A set of second dividers on the lower level and spaced about 1.4 inches apart accommodates two approximately 0.7-inch wide cases for audio tapes or Sega cartridges or Nintendo cartridges in between each two successive second dividers. A set of third dividers two of which are spaced between each two successive second dividers provides three 0.41-inch wide spaces between each two successive second dividers to accommodate the width of compact disc cases.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas A. Patent number: 5558235Abstract: An audio/video media package storage structure is formed using side rails, partition rails and spacer tubes. The side rail inner surface contains: a bottom flange; a row of interleaved long and short posts; a shelf beneath the posts and above the bottom flange, the shelf having notches centered between adjacent long posts. The rail can support packages of up to three different sizes at one time. Thin packages are supported between adjacent long and short posts and rest on the shelf. Thick packages are supported between adjacent long posts and rest on the bottom flange. Medium-sized packages fit within the notch on the shelf and rest on the bottom flange. The shelf and the bottom flange have protuberances centered between adjacent long and short posts and adjacent posts, respectively, to allow the packages to shift from a forwardly to a rearwardly-oriented display position. Each end of the side rail has a tunnel adjoining the bottom flange for inserting a spacer tube.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventor: Thomas A. Patent number: 4961220Abstract: A telephone device, typically a terminal, that receives a.c. communication signals and that sinks d.c. current to provide the off-hook signal is powered from (i) the telephone lines and, if line voltage is less than 7.4 v.d.c., from (ii) a 6 v.d.c. battery. Connection to telephone lines of voltage greater than 7.4 v.d.c. recharges the battery. The terminal further contains a CMOS microprocessor that may be declocked and placed in standby mode to conserve power. When so placed, the microprocessor maintains some of its signal lines at a logic High, 6 v.d.c., condition. In order to both unpower circuits such as a display, a memory, a DTMF dialer, and a modem to which the microprocessor signal lines connect, and to (ii) disrupt current leakage paths from the signal lines to ground through the unpowered circuits, the ground is removed from the circuits. This removal, controlled by a signal from the standby microprocessor, is performed by a transistor switch.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1988Date of Patent: October 2, 1990Assignee: Spectrum Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Michael L.
