  • Publication number: 20080112406
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for system multiplexing and program element identification is disclosed. A multiplexer generates a sequence of transport packets and associated program element information tables (PEIT). The header of a transport packet carrying the PEIT includes a unique PEIT indicator. A de-multiplexer first locates the PEIT by the unique PEIT indicator in the transport packet header. The de-multiplexer utilizes the corresponding program element identifier (PEID) of the program specific information (PSI) to search for the required transport packet that contains the PSI. The de-multiplexer then locates and extracts the needed elementary streams by searching for the associated PEID in the PEIT. The elementary streams are then sent to decoders for further processing.

  • Patent number: 7343155
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention relate to the general area of wireless communication systems and, in particular, to channel estimation for joint detection of data signals in TD-SCDMA systems. While time slots and spreading codes separate the users in a TD-SCDMA system, multiple access interference affects all its users. To deal with this problem detection schemes such as joint detection are used, which process all users' signals in parallel and include the interference information from all the users. An important part of the joint detection process is channel estimation and, as such, affects the detection process in different ways. In general, the more accurate the channel estimation is, the better the system performance will be. This invention presents methods and systems for channel estimation of TD-SCDMA systems.

  • Patent number: 7248896
Abstract: A system and method for securing a desktop cellular phone, having a SIM card inserted therein, includes turning on the phone and sending first data from a SIM card processor to the phone processor. The phone processor computes second data, using a first algorithm and the first data, and sends the second data to the SIM card processor. Meanwhile, the SIM card processor computes third data using a second algorithm and the first data. The SIM card processor compares the second data to the third data, and determines whether a relationship between the second data and the third data satisfies a first predefined requirement. If it does not, operation of the phone is, at least in part, prevented. Similar steps may additionally, or alternatively, be performed by the phone processor to verify that an authorized SIM card is inserted in the phone.

  • Publication number: 20070058697
Abstract: This invention discloses a channel estimation method for partial IC in TD-SCDMA intra-frequency cell, Specifically IC or de-correlation multi-user detection is utilized. Partial IC is implemented to realize the joint detection of the channel in several intra-frequency cells. As to n cells, the detailed procedures go as follows: At first, n 2×128 memories are established, just as s1, s2, s3, . . . sn, in order to store the complex serial. Midamble codes of the received signal constitute the 128-chip data. Step 1: The data taken from Midamble codes of the received signals undergo the Partial IC process of the residual past in the first cell. The process of channel estimation in the first cell is undertaken. Afterwards, the received signals of UE from the 1st cell are recovered.

  • Patent number: 7158795
Abstract: One of the common channels of the GSM system is the paging channel (PCH) for alerting the mobile station of an incoming call. The PCH message is scattered among four bursts as a result of coding, interleaving, and mapping processes before transmission. It is a waste of power for a handset to turn on and analyze all four bursts if the PCH message is a dummy one. Ideally, a handset needs to be able to make a determination whether a PCH message is a dummy one in as short of a time as possible and, if it is, turn off the power. Embodiments of this invention include methods and apparatus for enabling a handset to make this determination by merely analyzing the first received burst. Since most of the PCH messages are dummy ones, the proposed methods will cause noticeable savings in the power consumption of the GSM handsets.
