    Abstract: This corespun yarn includes a high temperature resistant continuous filament fiberglass core and a low temperature resistant staple fiber sheath surroudning the core. The corespun yarn is useful in the formation of fine textured fire resistant flame barrier fabrics for use as mattress and pillow ticking, bedspreads, mattress covers, draperies, upholstery, protective apparel, tenting, awnings, field fire shelters, for use as a substrate or backing for coated upholstery fabrics and as a flame barrier for use beneath upholstery fabric. The core of high temperature resistant continuous filament fiberglass comprises about 20% to 40% of the total weight of the corespun yarn while the sheath of low temperature resistant staple fibers surrounding and covering the core comprises about 80% to 60% of the total weight of the corespun yarn. The total size of the corespun yarn is within the range of about 43/1 to 3.5/1 conventional cotton count.

    Abstract: The present friction spinning apparatus includes a draw frame section with an entrance trumpet including first and second fiber sliver guiding passageways for forming a three component corespun yarn. One of the guiding passageways directs a core roving into the draw frame section while the other sliver guiding passageway directs a core wrapper sliver into the draw frame section so that the core wrapper fibers surround the core fibers. Wrapping fibers are then wound about the core and core wrapper fibers in an elongated throat extending between a pair of rotating suction drums.

    Abstract: The mattress pad and fitted bed sheet (31) are formed by placing equal lengths of mattress pad material (58) and bed sheet material (61) in overlying relationship and sewing the narrower mattress pad material at its side edges to the sheet material. The combined work product is then cut to length, the end portions folded over, and the corners bevelled and sewn together. An elastic tape (48, 49) is applied to each end of the work product so as to draw the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet about the mattress. The structure enables the mattress pad and fitted bed sheet to stay in proper position even when applied to a foldable mattress (24) of a sofa bed (20), when the mattress is folded into its hidden position inside the sofa bed.

The sizing composition may also include a water soluble or dispersible film forming polymer and a reactive resin.     Abstract: The level of released formaldehyde in a durable press treated fabric is significantly reduced or eliminated altogether by an oxidative aftertreatment process in which the fabric, after treatment with a formaldehyde-based durable press finishing agent and curing to impart durable press properties, is contacted with an oxidizing agent to destroy formaldehyde-releasing moieties present in the fabric. Preferably, the treatment of the durable press fabric with the oxidizing agent is carried out by impregnating the fabric with a solution containing the oxidizing agent and then providing the fabric a residence time in contact with the oxidizing agent to allow for reaction of the oxidizing agent with the formaldehyde-releasing moieties.
