  • Patent number: 11463856
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, a controller network element establishes a data tunnel between a wireless user device and an application server. An exposure network element receives an uplink QoS level and a cost, and the exposure network element indicates the uplink QoS level to a policy network element and indicates the service cost to a charging network element. The policy network element indicates related tunnel instructions to the controller network element. The charging network element indicates related quota instructions to the controller network element. The controller network element directs the data network element to transfer application data over the data tunnel using the uplink QoS level. The data network element transfers the application data over the data tunnel from the wireless user device to the application server at the uplink QoS level.

  • Patent number: 11463589
Abstract: A central routing function (CRF) platform. The CRF platform comprises a processor, a memory that stores prioritized call route lists, and an application stored in the memory. When executed by the processor the application receives a request for a prioritized call route list from a network element, where the request comprises an indication of a location of a call originator of a call and a destination telephone number, determines a call type of the call, selects a prioritized call route list associated with the destination telephone number from the non-transitory memory based on the call type, determines that a percent allocation rule applies to the call, based on the percent allocation rule, removes the first priority call route from the selected prioritized call route list to make an adapted prioritized call route list, and sends the adapted prioritized call route list to the network element.

  • Patent number: 11464077
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a wireless User Equipment (UE) and comprises a wireless access node and a support access node. The wireless access node determines packet drop rate for the support access node. The wireless access node determines an add threshold for the support access node based on the packet drop rate for the support access node. The wireless access node determines an add value for the support access node and determines when the add value is greater than the add threshold. When the add value is greater than the add threshold, the wireless access node signals the support access node to serve the wireless UE and signals the wireless UE to attach to the support access node. In response, the support access node wirelessly transfers user data for a wireless communication service to the wireless UE.

  • Patent number: 11456893
Abstract: A method of configuring a computing service on a virtual network with a multi-segment filename. The method comprises requesting an encrypted file by an application executing on a computer by providing a hash filename extracted from a multi-segment filename, wherein the multi-segment filename comprises a unique delimiter between each of the segments of the multi-segment filename, wherein each segment comprises one of a hash filename, a plain text instruction, or plain text content. The application organizes a network slice with one or more VNFs from coded instructions in a segment of the multi-segment filename. The application constructs the computing service within the VNF by transferring one or more executables, the data file, and one or more artifacts decrypted from hash filenames saved within the multi-segment filename to the network slice.

  • Patent number: 11452007
Abstract: A wireless communication network hands-in inbound User Equipment (UE) from a source communication network to a non-Third Partnership Project (non-3GPP) access node. In the wireless communication network, a Network Exposure Function (NEF) receives inbound UE context from the source communication network. An Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) detects when the inbound UE attaches to the non-3GPP access node to hand-in from the source communication network and responsively transfers a UE context request for the inbound UE to the NEF. The NEF transfers the inbound UE context to the AMF in response to the UE context request. The AMF transfers network signaling to one or more network functions to serve the inbound UE based on the inbound UE context.

The SMF receives the DNN reattach message and responsively transfers the DNN reattach message to the AMF. The AMF receives the DNN reattach message for the wireless UE and responsively transfers an N2 Packet Data Unit (PDU) session reattach message for the wireless UE to the RAN. The AMF receives an N2 PDU session request from the RAN for the wireless UE and responsively selects a new SMF for the PDU session.

  • Patent number: 11445421
Abstract: A wireless communication network to serve a wireless User Equipment (UE) with a wireless communication service over multiple wireless communication links. The wireless communication network comprises a primary access node, a first support access node, and a second support access node. The primary access node receives signal metrics for the support access nodes from the wireless UE, determines add thresholds for the support access nodes based on the amount of active UEs served by the primary access node, and converts the signal metrics for the support access nodes into add values for the support access nodes. When the add values are greater than the add thresholds, the primary access node signals the corresponding ones of the support access nodes to serve the wireless UE. The corresponding ones of the support access nodes exchange user data with the wireless UE.

  • Patent number: 11444683
Abstract: In a wireless communication network, an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) receives signaling for a wireless relay and transfers a slice request to a Network Slice Selection Function (NSSF). The NSSF transfers a network slice Identifier (ID) and relay slice IDs to the AMF. The AMF transfers the network slice ID and the relay slice IDs to a Session Management Function (SMF). The SMF instantiates a network User Plane Function (UPF) responsive to the network slice ID. The SMF instantiates relay UPFs in the wireless relay responsive to the relay slice IDs. The wireless relay wirelessly exchanges data with the UEs. The relay UPFs process the user data for the relay slices. The wireless relay wirelessly exchanges the user data with the wireless access node which exchanges the data with the network UPF. The network UPF processes the user data for the network slice.

  • Patent number: 11445419
Abstract: A Fifth Generation (5G) access node exchanges user data with User Equipment (UE) and exchanges the user data with a 5G User Plane Function (UPF). A 5G Core (5GC) identifies a handover to a Long Term Evolution (LTE) access node. In response, the 5GC selects an LTE Gateway Identifier (GW ID) for an LTE gateway that is physically co-located with the 5G UPF. The 5GC transfers handover signaling indicating the LTE GW ID and the LTE access node ID to a Mobility Management Entity (MME). The MME transfers signaling to the LTE access node and the LTE gateway. The LTE access node wirelessly exchanges user data with the UE and exchanges the user data with the LTE GW in response to the signaling. The LTE gateway exchanges the user data with the LTE access node.

  • Patent number: 11445570
Abstract: A mobile User Equipment (UE) uses Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to deliver mobile data services over different radios. The mobile UE qualifies the individual radios that have adequate signal strength at a geographic location. The mobile UE estimates TCP retransmission rates at the location for the qualified radios. The mobile UE identifies individual qualified radios that have adequate TCP retransmission rate estimates. The mobile UE selects one of the identified radios that has the lowest power usage. The mobile UE exchanges TCP packets over the selected radio which includes participating in TCP retransmissions at the location. The selected radio wirelessly exchanges the TCP packets with a wireless access node. The mobile UE stores resulting TCP retransmission data for the selected radio in association with the location for future TCP retransmission rate estimates.

  • Patent number: 11445410
Abstract: A wireless communication system delivers a wireless data service to User Equipment (UE) responsive to a handover. A Centralized Unit (CU) transfers a handover registration to a Network Repository Function (NRF). A Session Management Function (SMF) transfers a handover subscription for the UE to the NRF. The CU detects a handover of the UE and responsively transfers a handover notice for the UE to the NRF. In response to the handover subscription for the UE from the SMF, the NRF transfers the handover notice for the UE to the SMF. The SMF modifies the wireless data service for the UE responsive to the handover notice for the UE. For example, the SMF may implement data encryption for the UE responsive to the handover.
