  • Patent number: 5267702
Abstract: A device for winding and unwinding cables onto a cable drum (9) includes a portal-like supporting frame (1) and bracket arms (4) suspended from it. The bracket arms (4) are adjustable in length, and the distance between the bracket arms (4) is also adjustable. Rotatable spindle pins (8) are carried at the lower ends of the bracket arms (4). The bracket arms (4) are configured to be freely resilient in the longitudinal direction, and furthermore the spindle pins (8) are held at the bracket arms (4) so as to be movable transversely thereto. As a result, insertion of the spindle pins (8) into receiving openings in the cable drums is facilitated so that automatic operation is possible practically without malfunction even if there are dimensional errors in the receiving openings of the cable drums.

  • Patent number: 5144792
Abstract: A cage-type stranding machine includes a rotatably mounted supporting pipe (6) and radially outwardly oriented longitudinal webs (7) attached to the supporting pipe and distributed uniformly around its circumference, resulting in greater stiffness which permits higher rpm. Spool carriers (9) are rotatably supported by supporting shields (12), which are attached to the longitudinal webs. The supporting shields and the rotation axes (13) of the spool carriers are arranged at an angle to the supporting pipe to reduce the rotation circle diameter, which again permits an increased rpm in operation so that the production output can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5111646
Abstract: A device for winding tape around a continuous strand of material, for example a cable, wherein two reels of tape (11, 12) are mounted on a rotating tape feed device (1) via individual reel carriers (13, 14) which rotate independently and coaxially with the strand of material, so that each empty reel of tape can be stopped, exchanged, and brought back into operation while the tape feed device (1) is still rotating. The tape can therefore be placed around the strand of material without the device being stopped. In order to change the reel of tape, it is only necessary to reduce the rotational speed of the tape feed device (1).

  • Patent number: 4903473
Abstract: A stranding machine, and a method for controlling same wherein a measurement device is utilized to measure the centrifugal forces of a spool of the stranding machine. The strand spool rotation rate is then regulated dependent upon the measured centrifugal forces. As the material is depleted from the spool, the spool rotation rate is increased while maintaining a centrifugal force reading within given perimeters.

  • Patent number: 4574574
Abstract: A stranding machine including a plurality of reels on which filament to be stranded is wound; a separate, rpm-controllable motor connected with each reel; rpm control devices connected to each reel motor for controlling the reel rpm with respect to the stranding speed to determine the tension of the filament running from the reel; a separate compensating roller associated with each reel; and a separate support component carrying a respective compensating roller and being displaceable in opposite first and second directions. Each support component is coupled to the respective rpm control means for controlling the rpm of the respective reel drive motor as a function of displacement of the support component. The filament, as it runs about the compensating roller, exerts a force on the support component in the first direction. A force exerting assembly is connected with each support component for exerting a force on the support component in the second direction.
