Abstract: A tray forming apparatus forms a blank into a tray having a double glued side wall construction for providing a desirable strength to the tray. A platen drives the blank through a forming rails which fold the blank into a partially formed tray having bottom, end and side walls, and inside corner supports formed about the platen. The platen is retracted prior to folding arms further extended portions of the partially formed tray. A compression plate and the folding arms are biased against adhesive portions of the tray for forming a fully formed tray having a double glued side wall construction.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming a tray from a blank of sheet material is provided. The apparatus includes a platen configured to move along a path between a first position and a second position to drive the blank downstream from the first position and a first folding arm configured to fold an outside corner support member of the blank to form the blank into a partially formed tray including at least a portion of the outside corner support member being substantially parallel to the bottom panel. The apparatus further includes a fixed plate and a movable plate spaced from and movable with respect to the fixed plate. The fixed plate and the movable plate define a passage therebetween. The fixed plate guides the outside corner support member through the passage to a position adjacent a side panel and/or an end panel.

Abstract: A three-dimensional display header for point-of-purchase displays is provided, which is pivotably movable from a stowed, flattened position atop a display topper, to a deployed, three-dimensional upright display position. In a first embodiment, the display header has a U-shaped configuration in its deployed position, while in a second embodiment, it has a box-shaped configuration in its deployed position.

Abstract: A three piece beverage carrier has an outer ply, a partition assembly, and a box with the outer ply secured to the partition assembly and the partition assembly expanded and secured to the box. The outer ply comes from a rectangular blank folded lengthwise and the partition assembly comes from another blank that extends the transverse and cross partitions. The box takes shape from a third blank having wall panels and bottom flaps. The bottom flaps fold and glue together forming the bottom of the carrier. The partition assembly includes a transverse partition and at least one cross-partition. The partition assembly blank has a first body section, a second body section, and a handle section. The first and second body sections have a hinged connection at the handle section and form the transverse partition of the assembly. The first and second body sections further include at least one fold out section that defines the at least one cross-partition of the assembly.

Abstract: An upright display stand for mounting a hanging display tray erected from a corrugated paperboard blank. The display stand includes rectangular front panel having a locking slot for engagement of a transverse brace with the upper edge of the front panel including spaced apart notches for the engagement of hooks on the back of the hanging display tray. The display stand also includes a first integral side panel and a second integral side panel of generally triangular configuration and a rear panel. The upper end of the rear panel includes an integral brace section which folds downwardly and inwardly to engage the locking slot formed in the front panel to create the transverse brace. The display stand, when fully assembled, is generally rigid and stable and well suited to support a hanging display tray.

Abstract: A dispensing container (10, 110) for fluent material, which container is intended to he hung vertically from a support, such as a hook, is provided. The dispensing container has a tubular body, with a bottom dispensing region that is configured to promote the collection of the fluent material and guidance of the fluent material toward the inlet aperture of a dispensing nozzle (50) that is received in the side (30, 130) of the bottom dispensing region. The dispensing container (10, 110) is preferably fabricated from corrugated paperboard or similar material, and is preferably configured to serve as the shipping container for the fluent material as well, so as to reduce or eliminate the need for a further outer shipping container. The fluent material may be contained within a separate liner structure, within the surrounding tubular body, in a “bag-in-box” type of container arrangement.

Abstract: Shipping containers that are convertible to display containers are disclosed. The containers comprise wrap around outer shells of the general type known as “Bliss” wraps, in combination with interior vertical support structures. The invention presents improved two- and three-piece container constructions, having improved side-to-end panel connections for improved tray strength upon conversion to a display configuration, as well as a variety of interior divider/support options. By advantageous adhesive application together with specialized opening structures such as tear strips, lines of weakness and/or hand holes, various different conversion configurations are provided.

Abstract: A bag-in-box beverage container and dispenser is provided, incorporating an outer shell fabricated preferably from corrugated paperboard material, and an inner liquid containing bag, fabricated from a suitable material. The carton includes ready assembly features, as well as an air cell structure for creating an air space for insulating hot liquids contained within the container. An easy opening feature is provided, to permit direct access to the inner liquid containing bag, and a recessed handle structure is also provided.

Abstract: A container apparatus for simultaneously housing a product and a premium, the apparatus comprising a carton and a premium item. The carton includes a front panel, a back panel and two opposing side panels defining an interior region, and a top closure and a bottom closure for enclosing a product within the carton. A recessing flap is formed in an originating panel selected from at least one of the front panel, back panel and two opposing side panels to form a recessed cell in the carton which is at least partially separated from the interior region of the carton. The recessed cell spans the originating panel and at least one adjacent access panel in the container which is positioned adjacent to the originating panel—to allow access to the recessed cell from outside the carton through at least two adjacent sides of the carton. The premium item is received in the recessed cell such that the premium item is likewise accessible from at least two sides of the carton.

Abstract: A shipping case and display apparatus for transporting articles to a display and vending location, comprising a blank having bottom, rear, side and front panels therein, and further having a hook for releasably attaching said apparatus to a pegboard. Upon articulating the blank into a tray, the hook may be positioned in an undeployed orientation in a rear panel region, and the tray may be stocked with articles and sleeved for shipping. Upon arrival at the vending location, the hook may be positioned in a deployed orientation, the shelf may then be hung on a pegboard and the sleeve may then be removed.

Abstract: A funnel-shaped concentrator that is attachable to the outlet of a standard cast iron burner is disclosed. The concentrator directs the flame produced by the burner toward the outlet of the concentrator causing the flame emanating therefrom to be directed toward the container being labeled. One or more layers of refractory insulating material are placed along the sides of the concentrator, the body of the burner and the top and bottom surfaces of the concentrator so as to minimize the amount of infrared radiation emanating therefrom. In this manner, the containers being labeled or on which a label has been affixed are exposed only to the flame being directed outwardly from the outlet of the concentrator and the amount of infrared radiation to which the containers is exposed is greatly reduced.

Abstract: A collapsible shelving display, preferably fabricated at least in part, from corrugated paperboard. Side wall assemblies are hingedly connected to a back wall to form a stand. The stand includes foldable shelf support members that are inserted into receptacles cut out of the inner panels of the side wall assemblies. Shelves are pivotably attached to the back wall, and swingable between positions substantially parallel to the back wall to positions oblique or perpendicular to the back wall.

Abstract: A rotatable composite reel apparatus for use in association with an axle for winding, storing, transporting and unwinding various windable materials therewith, including a tubular spindle member and first and second composite platform members, held together by one or more straps passing through aligned apertures in the first and second composite platform members. At least one of the first and second platform members is fabricated at least in part, from a high-density composite fiberboard and perpendicular corrugated paperboard material. Corrugated paperboard material is also employed in the construction of at least one of the first and second platform members.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling and sealing of containers, such as sealable valved bags are provided. A sealable valved bag is placed in an upright, erect position, with its sealable valve structure presented to the apparatus, in a slightly open position, amenable to receipt of a filling nozzle of a filling tube. A bag sealing apparatus is placed at the same position along a processing path as a filling apparatus. The filling apparatus and the sealing apparatus are both configured for reciprocable movement into and out of engagement with successive ones of the bags, to enable filling, and subsequent sealing of each of such bags, without intermediate indexing of bags from a filling station to a sealing station.
