  • Patent number: 5795386
Abstract: A device for applying a coating layer to a substrate web comprises an application roll for applying the coating layer to the substrate web, a counterpressure roll interacting with the application roll in order to support a substrate web passing through between the application roll and the counterpressure roll, the application roll being designed to rotate in the same direction as the counterpressure roll, so that at the position of the counterpressure roll the direction of movement of the periphery of the application roll is opposite to that of the counterpressure roll, and a metering device for applying a coating material in a layer to the application roll, which metering device comprises a rotating cylindrical screen and a squeegee disposed inside the cylindrical screen.

  • Patent number: 5632202
Abstract: A device for placing a cylindrical screen provided with end rings in, and removing it from, a rotary screen printing machine comprises a screen support and lifting means connected to the screen support, for moving the screen support up and down. The screen support is designed to support the cylindrical screen while it is moving up and down. The screen support is provided with guide means, for example guide bars, along which the cylindrical screen can be moved in its lengthwise direction. With the aid of the device, cylindrical screens can be placed in, and removed from, the screen printing machine in a simple way, with the minimum chance of damage to the screens.

  • Patent number: 5505128
Abstract: A printing device, comprising several printing stations disposed one after the other in the lengthwise direction, and each comprising a main printing unit, at least one additional printing unit, drive means for driving the printing units, and conveyor means for conveying the material to be printed through the printing device, is provided with a movement device for moving the additional printing unit at least in the lengthwise direction of the printing device. The movement device can comprise guide means, movement means and positioning means. An assembly of an additional printing unit and a movement device can also be used in an existing printing device with several printing stations disposed one after the other in the lengthwise direction.

  • Patent number: 5491499
Abstract: An inkjet nozzle for an inkjet printer which is adapted to operate in the continuous inkjet mode, and which comprises a housing 1 having an ink supply channel 2 extending therethrough. The downstream end of the ink supply channel 2 is closed by a separate thin flat plate 7 which is fixed to the outlet end of the housing, and the plate includes an outflow channel 8 therethrough which is coaxially aligned with the ink supply channel. The outflow channel 8 has a very small diameter as compared to the diameter of the adjacent portion of the ink supply channel through the housing, and the length of the outflow channel is greater than its diameter. Also, an ultrasonic vibration element 12 is mounted to the exterior of the housing at a location adjacent the outlet end.

  • Patent number: 5476545
Abstract: The machine employs a rotary apparatus comprising a matrix-bearing cylinder coupled on an underlying transfer cylinder contacting over at least a tract of external surface thereof with an upper surface of a tile transiting on a rest plane. The tile is gripped between two facing branches of two lateral belts which advance the tile below the transfer cylinder; the rotation of the transfer cylinder being synchronized with the translation of the tile moved by the branches.

  • Patent number: 5142297
Abstract: Described is a nozzle configuration for an ink-jet printer in which the unshielded intervals between the drop-formation nozzle, the charging electrode and the deflection plates are chosen to be maximally 0.1-2 mm while further in the passage of the charging electrode a discharge aperture is present which connects to a channel for removing ink or other medium by suction. Also is described a process for operating said nozzle configuration in which during starting and/or stopping thereof medium is transported through the channels connecting to the charging electrode. The medium may be air and/or a protective fluid.

  • Patent number: 4973991
Abstract: A drum used as a clamping roller for mounting a substrate, such as a sheet of paper, in a device in which the surface of said substrate is treated. The clamping roller is of use in a device such as an electrojet printer. The roller comprises a thin metal seamless sleeve having perforations; a coating is present on the sleeve having such form that a great variety of substrate formats may be held on the roller surface by creating a low vacuum inside the sleeve. For all formats the coating is of similar form. The thin sleeve is centered around the roller's axis by means of centering means having the form of end-discs.
