Patent number: 8879286Abstract: An embodiment of a power supply includes an input node, a converter stage, and an outlet. The input node is operable to receive an input AC signal having peak portions and non-peak portions. The converter stage is operable to generate a DC power signal from the input AC signal and to cause a first current to be drawn from the input node during at least the non-peak portions of the input AC signal. And the outlet is operable to carry the DC power signal. For example, such a power supply may be installed in a facility such as a residence, office building, or manufacturing plant, or the facility's existing power supply may be retrofitted, to provide one or more power outlets that each carry a respective power-factor-corrected (PFC) DC voltage. Because the outlet voltages are PFC voltages, the amount of wasted power dissipated in the facility power lines/wiring and in the main power lines from the power company may be significantly reduced, without requiring each piece of equipment (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2011Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: STS, Inc.Inventor: Juan-Luis Lopez-Santillana

Patent number: 4697731Abstract: A collapsible, bulk shipping container with a take-out front panel that is made up of an inverted tray-type rectangular bottom, a collapsible three-sided body, one end of which is telescopically received in the tray-type bottom, and a removable take-out front panel that forms a tubular body with the three-sided body. The collapsible three-sided body is collapsible from a fully open position, in which it is U-shaped in configuration and in which it and the removable take-out panel form a tubular body which fills the tray-type bottom, into a collapsed condition in which it lies against one side of the tray-type bottom, one side of the collapsible three-sided body, the middle side, being secured to one side of the tray-type bottom. When the collapsible three-sided body has been collapsed, it can be folded over to lie against the tray-type bottom in a compact configuration for ease of the shipment or storage of at least these components of the bulk shipping container.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: OI Forest Products STS Inc.Inventor: Teddy R. Patent number: 4693411Abstract: A collapsible, bulk shipping container that is made up of an inverted tray-type rectangular bottom and a pair of collapsible body elements, one end of each of which is telescopically received in the tray-type bottom. The collapsible body elements collectively form the body of the container and each is collapsible from a fully open position, in which they cooperate to form the container body and fill the tray-type bottom, into a collapsed condition in which the first lies against one side of the tray-type bottom, and the second lies in superimposed relationship on the first collapsible body element, each collapsible body element being secured to one side of the tray-type bottom. When the collapsible body elements have been collapsed, they can be folded over to lie in superimposed relationship above the tray-type bottom in a compact configuration for ease of the shipment or storage of the bulk shipping container.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: OI Forest Products STS Inc.Inventor: Teddy R. Patent number: 4691859Abstract: A collapsible, bulk shipping container that is made up of an inverted tray-type rectangular bottom and a collapsible tubular body, one end of which is telescopically received in the tray-type bottom. The collapsible tubular body is collapsible from a fully open position, in which it is rectangular in configuration and in which it fills the tray-type bottom, into a collapsed condition in which it lies against one side of the tray-type bottom, one side of the collapsible tubular body being secured to one side of the tray-type bottom. When the collapsible tubular body has been collapsed, it can be folded over to lie against the tray-type bottom in a compact configuration for ease of the shipment or storage of the bulk shipping container. The tray-type bottom is preferably formed from a unitary blank of corrugated fiberboard, and the collapsible tubular body is preferably formed from a pair of corrugated fiberboard sheets which are joined to one another in an end to end arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: OI Forest Products STS Inc.Inventor: Teddy R.
