Publication number: 20140157131Abstract: In a synchronization system, the present invention provides an improved user interface through which a user can view and manage settings associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In the preferred embodiment, a column is displayed for each electronic device associated with the user's account in the synchronization system. In each column is a visual representation of items (e.g., folders) that are (1) backed up, remotely accessible and/or synchronized in the synchronization system and (2) located on the electronic device associated with such column. For each item that is synchronized across multiple devices, all the visual representations of such item in the columns are aligned across a single row in the interface. In the preferred embodiment, there is an arrow, or other visual indicator, between the visual representations of such items to indicate that the items are synchronized.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2014Publication date: June 5, 2014Applicant: SugarSync, Inc.Inventor: Domingo A. Mihovilovic

Publication number: 20140067925Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for managing and sharing picture files. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method comprises providing a server platform and providing a datastore on the server platform for maintaining full resolution copies of the files shared between a plurality of sharing clients. A synchronization engine is provided on the server platform and is configured to send real-time updates to a plurality of sharing clients when at least one of the sharing clients updates or changes one of said files. A web interface may also be provided that allows a user to access files in the datastore through the use of a web browser.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: SugarSync, Inc.Inventors: Jack Benjamin Strong, Gibu Thomas

Patent number: 8370298Abstract: A computer-implemented method is provided for managing and sharing picture files. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method comprises providing a server platform and providing a data store on the server platform for maintaining full resolution copies of the files shared between a plurality of sharing clients. A synchronization engine is provided on the server platform and is configured to send real-time updates to a plurality of sharing clients when at least one of the sharing clients updates or changes one of said files. A web interface may also be provided that allows a user to access files in the data store through the use of a web browser.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2010Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: SugarSync, Inc.Inventors: Jack B. Patent number: 8019900Abstract: The present invention provides an opportunistic peer-to-peer synchronization method, where client devices can either synchronize with a peer device or a master server, depending on which is the best available option. Client devices monitor synchronization information provided by peer client devices to determine if data that the client device desires to synchronize can be synchronized with a peer client device. If a peer device is available for synchronization, then a client device will synchronize with such peer device. Otherwise, the client device will synchronize with the master server or other device. Client devices can seamlessly switch between peer-to-peer synchronization and client-server synchronization, even during the middle of synchronization session.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2009Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: SugarSync, Inc.Inventors: Kiren R. Patent number: 7796779Abstract: A change to an image is synchronized. A modified image is obtained at a first device where the modified image is associated with modified metadata. The modified metadata is stored in a store associated with the first device. The metadata is sent from the first device to a second device, where the modified image is able to be generated on the second device using the modified metadata and a preexisting image file on the second device.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2006Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: SugarSync, Inc.Inventors: Jack Benjamin Strong, Vijay Myneni, Vivek Patel, Kiren Sekar
