Patents Assigned to Sumitomo Special Metals Company Limited
  • Patent number: 5800152
Abstract: Metallic materials which possess suitable characteristics for serving as an intermediate layer between a thermal barrier coating and a matrix substrate, or as a separator for a solid oxide fuel cell, contain 15 to 40 wt % Cr, 5 to 15 wt % W, 0.01 to 1 wt % M (where M is one or more than two elements chosen from Y, Hf, Ce, La, Nd, and Dy), 0.001 to 0.01 wt % B and a balance of Fe. The average value of the coefficient of thermal expansion of the metallic material is in a range from more than 12.0.times.10.sup.-6 /K to less than 13.0.times.10.sup.-6 /K in a temperature range from room temperature to 1,000.degree. C., and the value is close to that of stabilized zirconia. The metallic materials display excellent high temperature oxidation resistance.

  • Patent number: 5662943
Abstract: The purpose of this invention is to present fabrication methods and equipment for granulated powders whereby, the reaction between the R--Fe--B-type or R--Co-type rare earth containing alloy powders and the binder is controlled, the residual oxygen and carbon content of the sintered products after sintering is reduced, and whereby it is possible to obtain isotropic or anisotropic granulated powders having good powder flowability and lubrication properties when molding. After stirring a slurry of rare earth containing alloy powders formed by adding a binder consisting of water and at least one of either methyl cellulose, polyacryl amide or polyvinyl alcohol, and mixing, oriented liquid droplets are formed by applying a magnetic field to the slurry to orientate the said powder particles and spraying within the chamber of a spray dryer apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5621324
Abstract: A magnet field generating apparatus for MRI, comprising:a plurality of permanent magnet assemblies disposed continuously around the angular inner circumference of a hexagonal tubular yoke to provide a uniform magnetic field at the center portion of the hollow space inside said permanent magnet assemblies; the permanent magnet assemblies forming a main magnetic field by a pair of oppositely disposed permanent magnet assemblies which are trapezoidal or square in cross-section; other pairs of permanent magnet assemblies having a triangular or square cross-section; each of the pairs of oppositely disposed permanent magnet assemblies has a side surface in contact with a part of the inner peripheral surface of the yoke and forms a plurality of permanent magnet blocks which are magnetized perpendicularly to the side surface in contact with the yoke so that the permanent magnet assemblies are magnetized perpendicularly to the side surface thereof in contact with the yoke; magnetic pole pieces disposed on each surface

  • Patent number: 5529603
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a fire resistance bond magnet having superior temperature properties and most suitable for convergence use in picture tubes for display and high precision television, and alloy powders for bond magnet, without containing Co which is restricted in resources. The flame retardancy bond magnet having superior temperature properties and most suitable for convergence use in picture tubes for display and high precision television can be provided at low cost without containing Co, by using the alloy powders for bond magnet consisting of Al-Ni-Cu-(Ti, Nb)-Fe without Co, and having an isotropy and mean particle sizes of 10 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, and kneading, molding and curing the 20 wt % to 80 wt % alloy powders together with a chlorine flame retardant, a flame retardant assistant such as antimony trioxide and zinc boric acid and a binder.

  • Patent number: 5506557
Abstract: A high performance radial anisotropic cylinder-shape ferrite magnet for use in a motor to lower its noise and enable miniaturization thereof is formed of an integrated one-piece body formed of sintered Sr and/or Ba ferrite powders and has an axially-extending slit that is created before the body is sintered to reduce internal stress due to shrinkage. The slit can extend in parallel to both the axial and radial directions of the body, diagonally to both the axial and radial directions, or diagonally to the radial direction and parallel to the axial direction. The slit can be filled with a resin material.
