The mounting bracket may be integral with a wheelchair caster housing. A wheelchair includes an integral mounting bracket and caster housing attachable to a front portion of the wheelchair side frame. The mounting bracket supports a toggle assembly having an interference member. A lever linked to the toggle assembly is displaceable to effect movement of the toggle assembly to engage the interference member with the wheelchair wheel.

    Abstract: A universal elevating leg rest assembly for a wheelchair. The leg rest assembly includes an upper hanger plate mounted on a front tube member of the wheelchair. A lower hanger plate is mounted on the front tube member in a vertically-aligned, spaced-apart relationship with the upper hanger plate. A universal bracket assembly is pivotally mounted to the upper and lower hanger plates and allows the elevating leg rest assembly to be positioned on either the left or right side of the wheelchair. A latch mechanism allows the universal bracket assembly to be locked in place or unlocked, swung-away and detached from the wheelchair, if desired. A calf clamp assembly is hingedly connected to the universal bracket assembly. A release mechanism including an arcuate-shaped cam surface frictionally engages an arcuate-shaped cam surface of the calf clamp assembly to lock the leg rest assembly at a selected vertical position.

The back rest of the seat assembly can be positioned at a multiplicity of angular positions while providing proper anatomical alignment and support for an occupant. The seat assembly can be completely removed from the frame assembly and then installed so that the occupant can face in an opposite direction. The stroller is preferably constructed so as to be collapsible for easy transport and/or storage.

    Abstract: A tilt system for tilting a power wheelchair seat comprises a seat frame having laterally extending front and rear cross tubes and side tubes. A rear cross plate extends laterally between the wheelchair side frames and is slidably engageable with the side frames. A pivotal connection is provided between the rear seat cross tube and the rear cross plate. A front actuator cross tube is supported at a front end of the wheelchair base. A linear actuator is supported between the rear cross plate and the front actuator cross tube. A tilt linkage is disposed along opposite sides of the seat frame. Each tilt linkage has a front end pivotally connected to the wheelchair base and a rear end pivotally connected one of the side tubes of the seat frame. Another embodiment of the invention includes a glide system is secured to the inner surfaces of the wheelchair side frames. Another embodiment of the invention includes a wheelchair having a base comprises of two side frames.

    Abstract: A seat back recliner kit for attachment to a wheelchair which does not have a reclining seat back. A separate recliner mechanism is attached to each side frame for the wheelchair. Each recliner mechanism includes a rear wheel mounting bracket which attaches to the side frame for providing one or more rear wheel mounting locations spaced further to the rear of the wheelchair than the original rear wheel mounting locations. The new rear wheel mounting locations provide stability when the wheelchair is occupied with the seat back reclined. A pivoting seat back support is attached to the rear of each wheelchair side frame and the wheelchair seat back is attached to the pivoting seat back supports. An adjustable length brace extends between each seat back support and a rear wheel mounting block for adjusting the seat back angle. The brace is released by operating a hand lever while the seat back angle is adjusted and is locked when the lever is released.

The extension tube and the hanger are structured and dimensioned to be matingly engageable with one another and to prevent rotation of the extension tube relative to the hanger.

A plurality of locking pins are carried in the sockets and configured to project into the plurality of bores to lock the clevis and the rod end together and to retract from the plurality of bores to permit relative movement of the clevis and the rod end. Another embodiment of the invention is a wheelchair comprising a frame, drive wheels and steerable wheels supporting the frame, and paired foot supports each adjustably connected to the frame using the adjustable rotary positioning mechanism described above.
