  • Publication number: 20200344269
Abstract: A server management switch discovers and identifies its switch ports that are connected to communication ports of baseband management controllers (BMC's) of server computers. The server management switch isolates the identified BMC-connected switch ports such that network traffic on a BMC-connected switch port is restricted to a switch port that has a connection, either directly by a link or over a server management network, to a server management computer. Network traffic on BMC-connected switch ports are monitored and controlled in various ways to further protect the BMC's from security attacks.

  • Patent number: 10462249
Abstract: A globally distributed virtual cache is configured to provide storage resources for users around the globe. A user of the virtual cache uses a computing device to access data that is stored in storage centers included within the virtual cache. Those storage centers may be surface-based, atmosphere-based, or space-based. When the user accesses the same data repeatedly, the virtual cache migrates that data to a storage center that is closer to the user, thereby reducing latencies associated with accessing that data. When the user attempts to communicate with another user also coupled to the virtual cache, the virtual cache buffers data that is exchanged between those users to facilitate real-time or near real-time communication between those users.

  • Patent number: 10372364
Abstract: A storage enclosure includes a plurality of hard drive sub-boards, each configured to include a plurality of hard drives. A local logic device manages each hard drive sub-board. A master logic device manages the local logic devices. The master logic device receives management commands from a host computer system coupled to the storage enclosure, and routes those commands to specific local logic devices. The local logic devices then relay the commands to specifically targeted hard drives. Thus, each hard drive within the storage enclosure can be independently controlled, allowing a single hard drive to be powered down without powering down other hard drives in the enclosure.
