Abstract: A veneer feeder head used to peel a veneer sheet from a stack of veneer. A stationary head and an actuating head both contact the top veneer sheet and the actuating head moves into a peel state, where the one portion of the top veneer sheet is raised higher than another portion of the top veneer sheet. This peeling action separates the top veneer sheet from the next veneer sheet in the stack of veneer.
Abstract: An infeed rollcase for transporting an infeed object. The rollcase uses a split drive system to move infeed objects at varying speeds in different infeed decks of the infeed rollcase. By detecting the position of each infeed object along a front portion of each infeed deck, the drive speed of the split drive system is varied such that the infeed objects maintain a predetermined position (e.g., overlapping) with respect to a preceding infeed object.

Abstract: An apparatus for transporting veneer sheets, where the veneer sheets each have an upper surface, a lower surface, and a plurality of edges connecting the upper surface to the lower surface. The apparatus includes a vacuum source and a conveyor for transporting individual sheets of veneer along a direction of travel to a predetermined location. The conveyor includes a belt running in the direction of travel. A vacuum opening adjacent the belt is in communication with the vacuum source to draw respective sheets of veneer to the belt by suction applied to the upper surface or the lower surface of the veneer sheets via the vacuum opening. The position of the conveyor is adjustable in a direction transverse the direction of travel to accommodate veneer sheets having different lengths.
Abstract: A power-driven chopper for cutting up elongate material. The chopper includes a pair of feed rolls, each of which is motor-driven, delivering material to an anvil. A knife on a knife pivot arm is moved in an arc pass the knife to cut material. A motor actuates the knife pivot arm, and the motors for the feed rolls and the knife pivot arm are actuated in timed relation.
