Patents Assigned to Symons Corporation
  • Patent number: 4023374
Abstract: A preformed molded fiberglass reinforced plastic repair sleeve for use on a marine or other submerged concrete pile and a method of applying the same. The sleeve is provided with at least one vertical seam consisting of inside interlocking reentrant bends which together establish an interlocking tongue and groove joint. The joint is maintained effective by self-tapping screws which are in engaged relation with steel closure clips or strips. The sleeve after assembly is centered about the pile undergoing repair and the continuous space which exists between the sleeve and the pile is filled with a suitable grout which, when hardened, encompasses the internal or inside portions of the joint under pressure and prevents unfastening of the seam.

  • Patent number: 3981476
Abstract: A spreader clip assembly which is designed for use in connection with a concrete wall form and cooperates with a she-bolt on one end of a tie rod in preventing inward collapse of the adjacent side of a concrete wall form prior to pouring of wet concrete between the opposed form sides. A washer which is loosely and telescopically received over the she-bolt bears against the outer side of the adjacent form side and is clamped thereto by a nut, while an inverted J-shaped spreader clip proper which is captured on the washer is movable by a compound angular swinging and sliding action between a locking position wherein it straddles both the nut and washer and assimilates any tendency for inward collapse of the adjacent form side, and an out-of-the-way position wherein it exposes the nut for manipulating purposes.

  • Patent number: 3972501
Abstract: A spreader bar assembly which is designed for use in a concrete wall form and cooperates with a she-bolt on one end of a tie rod in preventing inward collapse of the adjacent side of the form prior to pouring of wet concrete between the opposed form sides. A washer which is loosely and telescopically received over the she-bolt bears against the outer side of the adjacent form side and is clamped thereto by a nut, while a pivoted spreader bar proper which is captured on the washer is capable of swinging movement in a vertical plane between a locking position wherein it passes across the front or outer face of the nut and assimilates any tendency for inward collapse of the adjacent form side, and an out-of-the-way position wherein it exposes the nut for manipulating purposes.

  • Patent number: 3965542
Abstract: A releasable, reusable, slip-on she-bolt type gripper device designed for telescopic reception therein of one end of a cylindrical horizontally extending tie rod which is associated with a concrete wall form and serves to lateral displacement of the sides of the form when the latter is in use. The device is adapted to receive the reaction pull of the tie rod when the latter is under tension as a result of the pouring of wet concrete between the form sides. Longitudinally shiftable, chuck-forming jaw segments within the forward or inner frusto-conical end section of an elongated tubular shell are spring-biased so as frictionally to engage the adjacent end of the associated tie rod and are self-energized by the longitudinal pull of the latter. A pull rod is connected in common to all of the jaw segments, projects rearwardly through the rear or outer end of the shell and, when pulled rearwardly, releases the jaw segments from the tie rod.

  • Patent number: 3965543
Abstract: A releasable, reusable, slip-on, she-bolt type gripper device designed for telescopic reception therein or therethrough of one of the projecting end regions of a cylindrical horizontally extending tie rod as used in connection with a concrete wall form or the like and adapted to receive the reaction pull of the tie rod incident to the pouring of wet concrete between the wall form sides. The device embodies a series of circumferentially arranged chuck-forming jaws which normally grip the adjacent tie rod end region but which become released therefrom when a hollow pull rod through which said tie rod end region extends is actuated.
