Patent number: 11752739Abstract: An extruded multilayer film includes a top layer comprising a blend of a polyolefin and adsorbent silica. The adsorbent silica is 5% or more of the blend and the polyolefin is 95% or less of the blend. The multilayer film is oriented in at least one direction to cause fracturing of the top layer to provide a microporous surface exposing the adsorbent silica gel. The fractured top layer is receptive to receiving a printing ink on an exposed surface thereof with enhanced pigment entrapment and rapid ink drying. A single layer film in the form of the top layer, and also oriented in at least one direction also constitutes a part of this invention.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2019Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Taghleef Industries Inc.Inventors: Eric Propst, Christoph Michel

Patent number: 11738544Abstract: A multilayer, oriented shrink film includes a core layer, skin layers on opposed sides of the core layer, and an interlayer between each skin layer and the core layer for bonding each skin layer to the core layer. The core layer comprises a polypropylene terpolymer, at least one polybutene-1 copolymer and at least one polypropylene elastomeric copolymer including ethylene. At least one skin layer comprises at least one amorphous glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate. At least one interlayer includes a polypropylene terpolymer and an ethylene copolymer with vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate. The shrink film has a shrinkage of greater than 50% at 95° C. in one of the machine direction and transverse direction of film formation and has a density below 1.0 g/cm3.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: TAGHLEEF INDUSTRIES INC.Inventors: Anthony J. Denicola, Andrew F. Wilkie

Patent number: 11590744Abstract: Oriented, multilayer shrink films, either clear or opaque, comprise a core layer and at least one skin layer. The core layer has a thickness greater than the thickness of the at least one skin layer. The at least one skin layer comprises at least one cyclic-olefin copolymer as the predominant component thereof. The core layer comprises a blend of a polyolefin polymer and a polybutene-1 copolymer with ethylene, the butene-1 constituting over 75% by weight of the polybutene-1 copolymer. The film has a shrinkage of at least 20% in at least one of the machine and transverse directions of formation when said film is heated to a temperature of between 80 and 100° C. Optionally the films can include a propylene-based elastomer, a styrenic based block copolymer elastomer, reclaim including the components of the film, or combinations thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2017Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: TAGHLEEF INDUSTRIES INC.Inventors: Andrew F. Wilkie, Anthony J. DeNicola, Jr.

Patent number: 11305571Abstract: A plurality of plastic sheets to be fed into a high speed printer for forming printed labels and similar articles and a stack of printed labels formed form the sheets. Each of the sheets or labels includes a core layer and opposed, upper and lower outer skin layers. The upper outer skin layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component, by weight, thereof and is capable of receiving printed indicia thereon. The core layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component, by weight, of the core layer; preferably a high crystallinity polypropylene homopolymer. The lower outer skin layer includes a polyolefin polymer as the predominant component by weight therein; the improvement wherein the lower outer skin layer includes a blend of organic and inorganic antiblocking agents or a blend of inorganic antiblocking agents; the blend including less than 10%, by weight, of the lower outer skin layer.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2019Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: TAGHLEEF INDUSTRIES INC.Inventor: Bruce S.
