    Abstract: An extruded multilayer film includes a top layer comprising a blend of a polyolefin and adsorbent silica. The adsorbent silica is 5% or more of the blend and the polyolefin is 95% or less of the blend. The multilayer film is oriented in at least one direction to cause fracturing of the top layer to provide a microporous surface exposing the adsorbent silica gel. The fractured top layer is receptive to receiving a printing ink on an exposed surface thereof with enhanced pigment entrapment and rapid ink drying. A single layer film in the form of the top layer, and also oriented in at least one direction also constitutes a part of this invention.

The core layer comprises a polypropylene terpolymer, at least one polybutene-1 copolymer and at least one polypropylene elastomeric copolymer including ethylene. At least one skin layer comprises at least one amorphous glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate. At least one interlayer includes a polypropylene terpolymer and an ethylene copolymer with vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate. The shrink film has a shrinkage of greater than 50% at 95° C. in one of the machine direction and transverse direction of film formation and has a density below 1.0 g/cm3.

    Abstract: Oriented, multilayer shrink films, either clear or opaque, comprise a core layer and at least one skin layer. The core layer has a thickness greater than the thickness of the at least one skin layer. The at least one skin layer comprises at least one cyclic-olefin copolymer as the predominant component thereof. The core layer comprises a blend of a polyolefin polymer and a polybutene-1 copolymer with ethylene, the butene-1 constituting over 75% by weight of the polybutene-1 copolymer. The film has a shrinkage of at least 20% in at least one of the machine and transverse directions of formation when said film is heated to a temperature of between 80 and 100° C. Optionally the films can include a propylene-based elastomer, a styrenic based block copolymer elastomer, reclaim including the components of the film, or combinations thereof.

    Abstract: In combination, a plastic label attached to an outer surface of a product by a pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive is attached to an exposed surface of an inner surface layer of the label, and the product includes one or more materials capable of migrating through the label and providing visible stains therein. The inner surface layer of the label includes a hydroxyl functionalized polyether amine resin preventing the material exuded from the product from migrating through the label thickness to provide visible staining of said label. A single extruded film of the label or the core of a multilayer label including either high crystalline polypropylene homopolymer, with or without a hard resin, or a conventional polypropylene with a hard resin.
