Patent number: 4711486Abstract: A barber shop or beauty parlor chair for back shampooing, i.e. the shampooing of the hair and scalp of the head of a person seated in the chair, from the rear of the person, by tilting the chair into a reclined and substantially horizontal position, so that the person or customer's neck may be readily fitted onto the shampoo bowl. The present chair features pivoted frame members manipulatable by an integral hydraulic cylinder, so that the chair is adjustable from an upright position into a reclined and substantially horizontal position, whereby back-shampooing of the head of a person sitting in the chair may readily be accomplished. The chair features pivoted frame members which are pivoted by activation of the upper plunger of a hydraulic cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1986Date of Patent: December 8, 1987Assignee: Takara CompanyInventor: Kunio Fujiyama

Patent number: 4586749Abstract: A pair of link plates, each pivotally connected at one end to a seat base and each pivotally connected at their other ends to a seat plate and seat supported thereby, constrain the seat plate and seat to a rearward and upward movement, or a downward and forward movement, with respect to the seat base. The plunger, of a hydraulic cylinder pivotally carried by the seat base, is pivotally connected to the seat plate so that when actuated it induces movement of the seat plate to its rearward and upward position. A seat back is pivotally connected to the seat base and to armrests carried by the seat plate so that movement of the seat in the upward and rearward direction moves the seat back to a downward position aligned with the seat. A footrest linkage is connected between the seat back and a footrest connected to the seat so that movement of the seat back into its downward position moves the footrest into an upward position aligned with the seat and seat back.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1983Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Takara Company, New York, Inc.Inventor: Masatoshi Nakatani

Patent number: 4572573Abstract: A dental chair operating apparatus developed in relation to the underseat and the backrest. The uses for the present chair and integral underseat and backrest configuration include human dental, medical, beauty parlor, and barber shop treatment facilities and installations. The present chair, e.g. a dental chair, is one with a hip section of the underseat baseboard on top of a vertical motion apparatus on top of a base plate; a movable circular arc board with backrest baseboard tilts by an oil-pressured cylinder. The present chair configuration is basically automatic, however it may also be manually manipulated.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1982Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Takara CompanyInventors: Noriyuki Yoshikawa, Kunio Fujiyama

Patent number: 4515406Abstract: A chair for human dental or medical treatment and having an improved adjustable headrest support. The chair features a flat curved linear strip member which extends between the headrest and the main frame of the chair. The strip member is guided by at least one, and preferably two pairs of opposed cylindrical guide rollers which contiguously straddle the strip member, so as to guide the motion of the strip member along its longitudinal axis, as it is displaced along its axis and towards or away from the frame, typically by a hydraulic mechanism. This makes possible vertical direction of movement of the strip member. The hydraulic mechanism, or two mechanisms in tandem, are a pivoted floating mounting for the strip member which facilitates ready adjustment of the headrest support relative to the main frame and seat of the chair. At least one tension spring is provided to produce smooth backdown of the piston plunger and piston head when hydraulic fluid pressure in the cylinder is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1982Date of Patent: May 7, 1985Assignee: Takara Company, New York, Inc.Inventors: Kunio Fujiyama, Kei Okamoto, Noriyuki Yoshikawa

Patent number: 4424950Abstract: A decorative edge extrusion is provided for use with mirrors and the like in order to protect and support the mirrors. The edge extrusion also has provisions for interlocking with adjacent furniture modules to provide a continuous and supporting structure for the mirror assembly. The edge extrusion consists of a pair of shaped members interconnected by a web. The pair of shaped members fit over the edge of a mirror subassembly which is part of the mirror assembly. A channel is provided between the shaped members, opposite to the mirror assembly, for cooperating with a mounting bracket attached to adjacent furniture modules.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1981Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Assignee: Takara CompanyInventor: Hidetoshi Yoshiyuki

Patent number: 4400044Abstract: A modular cabinet system comprises a modular unit of a first rectangular cabinet, and a first standing mirror spaced from the cabinet and disposed in the plane of the back side of the rectangular cabinet. A first panel is connected to the standing mirror and to the rectangular cabinet for supporting the standing mirror. In addition a second standing mirror may be spaced from the first standing mirror and a second panel may be connected to these mirrors. A second rectangular cabinet is positioned with its back side adjacent the second panel and extending outward in the same direction as the first rectangular cabinet. Third and fourth rectangular cabinets may be connected into the system and extend outward in an opposite direction from the first and second cabinet. In addition, two mirrors associated with the third and fourth rectangular cabinets are provided adjacent the back surface of the first and second mirrors.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1981Date of Patent: August 23, 1983Assignee: Takara CompanyInventor: Hidetoshi Yoshiyuki

Patent number: 4332557Abstract: A dental operatory system is disclosed which converts generalized space to a multi-operatory dental clinic at minimum expense. Each dental operatory unit is generally L-shaped and forms a wall-like partition structure between a first operatory and a second operatory. The L-shaped structure incorporates lead-lined protective panels. An x-ray unit and light unit are mounted so as to be accessible to each operatory. Drawers are also cooperatively mounted to ease of access by the dentist or assistant in each operatory.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Takara Company, New York, Inc.Inventor: Tony Watanabe

Patent number: 4290659Abstract: A cabinet system includes a cabinet and a mirror standing adjacent to the cabinet. In addition, an adjustable connection device joins the cabinet to the mirror whereby the angle between the cabinet and the mirror changes while the mirror remains in a fixed standing position. Also, a second adjustable device can join a second cabinet to the mirror whereby the angle between the second cabinet and the mirror changes while the mirror remains in the same standing position. The mirror and the cabinet can also be positioned with respect to each other so that three groups of substantially identical cabinets and mirrors can be placed next to each other so that each cabinet and corresponding mirror contacts an adjacent cabinet. A swivel drawer is received in and extends from a side of the cabinet opposite from the mirror. The drawer extends out of the side and swivels around towards the front of the cabinet.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1980Date of Patent: September 22, 1981Assignee: Takara CompanyInventor: Hidetoshi Yoshiyuki
