Abstract: An automated banking a machine such as a teller cash recycler uses a system and method for receiving operating instructions from a remote system in the form of JavaScript object notation (JSON) documents. The system and method uses a computer implemented method for transmitting information between automated banking machines over a communication network. The method includes receiving a message for network communication from a first automated banking machine to a second automated banking machine, formatting the message in a tagless data interchange format independent of the size of the message based on instructions stored on a computer readable medium within the first automated banking machine, and transmitting the formatted message to the second automated banking machine.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for validating the identity of a controller for an automated banking machine based on displayed indicia. The method includes detecting access to a secure compartment of an automated banking machine, displaying a security indicia visible from the secure compartment, receiving the security indicia at an input device and a first controller accessible from outside of the secure compartment, and validating the identity of the controller based on the received security indicia.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method is used for facilitating a single instance banking transaction. The method includes the steps of receiving a banking transaction request from a banking account holder at a first banking computer system, the request including at least an account identification and transaction information, generating a single instance banking transaction indicia correlated to the banking transaction request, providing the single instance banking transaction indicia to the banking account holder, receiving the single instance banking transaction indicia at a second banking computer system, and performing the banking transaction request at the second banking computer system.

Abstract: A lock mechanism is disclosed for a sheet store adapted for the dispensing or accepting of sheets. The sheet store comprises a container having a lid operable for access to the interior of the container and a shutter operable for the passage of sheets therethrough. The lock mechanism comprises: a locking plate movable relative to the container, the locking plate being operable to control a lid lock element and a shutter lock element; and an actuator arranged to control movement of the locking plate. The locking plate is movable between three positions, including: a closed position, in which the shutter lock element prevents opening of the shutter; a primed position, in which the shutter can be opened; and an open position which controls the lid lock element to permit opening of the lid.

Abstract: A document handling apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an input module for feeding documents one-by-one into the machine, a note handling assembly including a note transport system, secure document analysis assembly, diverter and stacker module. The secure document analysis assembly includes one or more detectors for detecting characteristics of the documents. The diverter directs documents along one of plural transport paths. Documents pass from the diverter into a safe via a through-safe transport and transport safe module to a series of roll storage modules, in which documents can be stored and later dispensed.

Abstract: A financial transactions processing system includes a cradle to receive dispensed notes for dispensing cash to customers and/or tellers. The cradle may be rotatable for use with more than one user. The cradle may have end walls to provide security and privacy to each user. A rotatable shield may provide additional security and privacy. A lock may prevent the cradle and/or shield from rotating to prevent unauthorized access to cash in the cradle.

Abstract: A roll storage module comprises a storage roll (4) and a band roll (1). A band (3) extends between the storage and band rolls, the rolls being rotatable so that the band can be rolled around and unrolled from each roll. A storage roll motor (5) applies a rotational torque directly to the storage roll (4), a band roll motor (2) applies a rotational torque directly to the band roll (1). A control system (6) controls the motors (2,5) so as to cause the band (3) to roll on and unroll from the storage and band rolls (1,4) respectively in a determined manner. The control system includes a processor (6) for monitoring rotation of the band roll (1), and for calculating one or more parameters relating to the band (3) based on the monitored band roll rotation thereby to control the band and storage roll motors to rotate their respective rolls in the determined manner.

The step of performing the user login operation can be done before, during and after the step of processing the payment media.
