Patent number: 5647101Abstract: A magnetic fastener has a fastening element and an attracted element. The fastening element has a permanent magnet with a hole substantially parallel to the direction of the magnetic poles and a ferromagnetic plate on one side of the magnet facing the hole. The attracted element also has a ferromagnetic plate adapted for connecting to the open side side of the magnet facing the hole. Either one or both of the first and second plate can have a ferromagnetic rod that extends into the magnet hole. If only one rod is formed, the length of it extends substantially the depth of the magnet so that when the attracted element is connected to the fastening element, the end of the rod is near or contacting the opposing ferromagnetic plate through the magnet hole. If a rod is formed on each plate, the combined length of the rods is such that the ends thereof are near or touching within the magnet hole when the attracted element is fully engaged to the fastening element.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1995Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita

Patent number: 5572772Abstract: A fastener comprising a male member (A) and a female member (B), wherein a projection (P) including a magnet is disposed on the male member and the female member defines an opening adapted to receive the projection. A slidable engagement member (60), which includes a ferromagnetic portion (61) and a non-magnetic or weakly magnetic portion (62), is disposed within the female member and is slidable relative thereto. The engagement member is positioned such that after the male member is inserted into the female member the attraction between the ferromagnetic portion and the magnet moves the engagement member into a locking relationship with the male member.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1994Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita

Patent number: 5560089Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener means comprising an attracting member A with a permanent magnet 1 and an attracted member B with a ferromagnetic element 110 to be attracted by the former member. To assure easy and stable attraction between the members A and B when they are respectively fixed to a pair of objects C and C' disposed in an intersecting relation, the members A and B include planes and e' that are parallel to each other when the members are attracted. Alternatively, the main attraction surfaces a' and/or b' of the members A and B include a plane d and/or d' within a virtual plane D that intersects the fixing surfaces of the objects, or the attracting member A and/or the attracted member B are fixed to the object with an inclination, so that the members A and B can be held stably attracted to each other without being subject to external force.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Assignee: Tarmo Co. Patent number: 5274889Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener means which utilizes the attraction force of a permanent magnet and which is characterized in that a ferromagnetic member attached to one of the magnetic pole surfaces of an annular permanent magnet constituting the fastener means and having a through-hole extending between the magnetic poles and a ferromagnetic member attached to the other magnetic pole are detachably attracted to each other via said through-hole, and portions of the surfaces of the permanent magnet to which the first ferromagnetic member is not contacting the permanent magnet, excluding the peripheral surface of the through-hole or including the peripheral surface at the mouth of the through-hole, are covered with a ferromagnetic casing or a ferromagnetic material, such as a ferromagnetically plated sheet, having the thickness of about 0.03 to 0.20 mm.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1992Date of Patent: January 4, 1994Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita

Patent number: 5253394Abstract: A magnetic fastener having a female member with a slide plate which attracted by the permanent magnet of the male member. The slide plate engages with the male member and thereby restrains removal of the male member unless manually slid into disengagement. The female member has first and a second plates between which the slide plate is slideably inserted. So as to secure the first and second plates together, deformable catches are formed on one of the plates and indentions which receive the catches are formed on the other. When the catches of the one plate are inserted in the indented portions of the other and then deformed, the first and the second plates are firmly engaged to constitute a female frame of the fastener.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1992Date of Patent: October 19, 1993Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita

Patent number: 5199138Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener means that utilizes the attraction of a permanent magnet. The present invention is an improvement on the female member having a slide plate which is to be attracted by the permanent magnet of the male member. More particularly, the improvement relates to a first and a second plates between which the slide plate is to be slidably inserted. By providing catches and indented portions which receive the catches in the first and the second plates and by welding the first and the second plates firmly while the catches are fitted in the indented portions.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1992Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita

Patent number: 5152035Abstract: A magnetic fastener utilizes the attraction force of a permanent magnet which comprises an attraction member comprising a permanent magnet having a through-hole extending between the magnetic poles and a ferromagnetic member attached on one of the magnetic poles of the permanent magnet, and a attracted member to be attracted to the ferromagnetic member via the through-hole of the permenant magnet. The angle formed by the magnetic pole surface to which the attracted member is attracted and the peripheral side face extending between the magnetic pole surfaces of the permanent magnetic is 95.degree. or larger.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1991Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: Tarmo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Tamao Morita
