Abstract: A dermal treatment handpiece has a body with proximal and distal ends, a jet spray delivery head formed at the distal end of the body and connected to sources of a liquid suspension of a therapeutic agent and of a pressurized gas for a selectable combined supply thereof to the jet spray delivery head. The jet spray delivery head has a base formed at the distal end of the body, a localized environmental jet spray isolation chamber extending from the base to a distal exit port, a nozzle extending into the isolation chamber from the base, connected to a combined inflow of the liquid suspension and the pressurized gas, and one or more tubes mounted within the nozzle for receiving the combined inflow, each tube having a delivery tip extending into the isolation chamber for emitting a high pressure, high velocity jet spray along a delivery axis in response to receiving the combined inflow.

  • Publication number: 20210299420
Abstract: A device and system for treatment of tissue by direct application thereto of therapeutic substances in the form of a stream of therapeutic droplets carried in a high velocity gas. The high velocity gas is produced by accelerating a flow of gas through at least one gas discharge nozzle. At least one flow of therapeutic substance is introduced into the high velocity gas through at least one liquid discharge nozzle, thereby fragmenting the at least one flow of therapeutic liquid into a stream of therapeutic droplets. The stream is accelerated to a velocity similar to the velocity of the gas discharge flow. The accelerated therapeutic droplet stream is then applied to a tissue for therapeutic treatment. The device and system contain a gas stream shield generator that provides a shield which prevents rebounding and dispersing droplets produced after impinging on the tissue from travelling in the direction of a user.

  • Patent number: 6673081
Abstract: The present invention is a method of dermal abrasion, that includes exposing a source of sterile liquid to a flow of pressurized gas, thereby causing a pumped supply thereof into a fluid delivery head (200); supplying the pressurized gas to the fluid delivery head; combining the gas, and liquid (204) supplied to the delivery head; this fluid delivery head having a fluid outlet (206) with a predetermined internal diameter (210), so as to provide a gas-liquid outflow in the form of a sterile liquid mist jet suspended in a high velocity gas stream; and exposing to the mist jet, at a preselected distance from the fluid outlet, a portion of the skin surface (224) sought to be abraded, thereby separating therefrom at least a portion of the epidermis (225), and removing therefrom the resulting tissue debris.

  • Patent number: 6283936
Abstract: An apparatus employing liquid and gas as working fluids for cleansing living tissue includes a container for a sterile liquid and a fluid delivery head having a liquid entry port, a gas entry port, a fluid outlet apparatus and a valve located between the entry ports and the fluid outlet apparatus. The valve selectively permits respective liquid and gas flows from the entry ports to the fluid outlet apparatus. A liquid conduit extends between a liquid inlet located within the container and a liquid outlet connected to the liquid entry port of the delivery head. A gas conduit extends between a gas inlet and a gas outlet. The gas inlet is connected to a source of pressurized gas and the gas outlet is connected to the gas entry port of the delivery head. The gas conduit is connected to the container via an intermediate outlet port.
