  • Patent number: 7753627
Abstract: Disclosed is a single-lip drill comprising a drill head (11) that is provided with a blade (12) which is embodied on said drill head. The blade encompasses a cutting edge (19) for machining a workpiece (16) in a cutting manner. At least one chip-forming device (21) which shapes chips (22) cut by the cutting edge is associated with the cutting edge. The chip-forming device is provided with a positive cutting angle (gamma) such that the mechanical and thermal stress can be reduced in the area of the blade (12). In addition, the chip-forming device can comprise a functional coating (29a, 29b) which is made especially of hard material and is applied after providing the drill with the exterior shape thereof.

  • Patent number: 7476066
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-bladed deep drilling tool (17) comprising a cooling lubricant channel (19, 20) provided for each chip space (74) allocated to each cutter (71). Said channels (19,20) are supplied with a lubricant independently from each other, by means of either jointly drives or separately drives lubricating pumps (25, 26). Said channels being associated with either the drilling devise (11) or integrated into an adapter (30) which is pivoted with a common flow of lubricant, but which supplies independent individual flows. Lubrication of the individual cutting zones is guaranteed even if the chip removal channel is blocked, by chips for example. The pressure of the cooling lubricant channel increases in said area whereupon the channel in question is cleared.

  • Patent number: 6287245
Abstract: A deep drilling device suitable for drilling in workpieces, particularly crankshafts, holes at different positions and/or in different orientations relative to a work longitudinal axis, has a deep drilling unit and a work holding unit cooperating therewith. The deep drilling unit permits parallel displacements of the deep drilling tools in a horizontal X direction and a vertical Y direction, as well as a tool feed parallel to the spindle axis. The tool holding device receives one or more crankshafts in such a way that their longitudinal axis is horizontally oriented and permits a rotation about the longitudinal axis and a swivelling of the workpieces about a vertical rotary axis. As a result both different tilt angles of the holes relative to the work longitudinal axis and also different positions of the holes relative to the circumference of the workpieces can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4869627
Abstract: A guide device for a deep drilling tool of a deep drilling machine including at least one guide jaw having a guide surface for guiding the elongated shaft of the drilling tool. The guide jaw has an outer surface which extends in a circumferential direction. The outer surface has a groove defined by a semicircularly shaped surface. The groove extends along at least a part of the circumferential extent of the outer surface. The semicircularly shaped surface has a diameter which varies along the circumferential extent of the outer surface. The surface so configured serves as the guide surface.

  • Patent number: 4726717
Abstract: A deep-bore drilling machine consists of a deep-bore drilling unit (1) which is driven by rotation and has a deep drill tool (4, 7). The front end (7) of the deep-bore drilling tool (4) is led into the drill bushing (10) at the beginning of the drilling operation. The drill bushing (10) is thereby contained in a main spindle (22) and is replaceable. Also, the main spindle (22) can also be driven independent of drive (2) of the deep-bore drilling unit (1) by another drive (30).

  • Patent number: 4574439
Abstract: A deep boring machine is described which has a spindle unit (2) with a horizontal spindle shaft (40) for receiving a boring tool (50). The spindle unit is horizontally displaceable on a machine bed (1) and is driven by a spindle drive mechanism (2). The boring head (6) is guided, upon initial boring of the workpiece (11), in a jig bushing (7) which is disposed in a jig bushing holder (13). The jig bushing holder (13) is displaceable on a guide (25, 26) in the direction of the spindle shaft (40). The guide (25, 26) is disposed above and offset parallel (h.sub.1, h.sub.2) from the spindle shaft (40) and extends at least partly beyond the machine bed (1). A workpiece clamping table (19) is disposed adjoining the machine bed (1) and is adjustable independently thereof.

  • Patent number: 4566705
Abstract: The drill spindle of a deep well drilling machine has a sleeve-like extension with a conical internal surface which is complementary to conical external surfaces on an annulus of claws forming part of a clamping device which is inserted into the extension and has an axial passage for the shank of a rotary tool. A set of dished springs normally urges a ring against a conical end face of the clamping device whereby the latter urges its claws against the internal surface of the extension and the claws transmit torque from the spindle to the shank of the tool. If the transmission of torque is to be terminated, the piston of a fluid-operated motor is caused to shift the ring against the opposition of the dished springs whereby the claws relax the force with which they engage the shank and the latter can be extracted from the passage of the clamping device.

  • Patent number: 4548530
Abstract: A reboring tool has a two-piece carrier for a separable cutter with several cutting edges. The front shank of the carrier is threadedly connected with the rear shank which has one axial passage for admission of coolant to the range of the cutting edges. The cutter is rotatable and axially movable in rear guiding sleeve in the retracted position of the tool. The front shank of the carrier is rotatable in a front guiding sleeve, and the workpiece is placed between the two sleeves so that the front shank extends through its bore prior to start of the bore enlargement operation. The distance between the cutter and the front end of the front shank of the carrier exceeds the length of the bore in the workpiece.
