Patent number: 10586470Abstract: A training device applicable to training personnel in the treatment of a traumatic injury is presented. The invention includes a compressible body, a base, a wound structure, and an annular cavity. The compressible body simulates a body portion. The compressible body resides within the base. The base is disposed about a top surface of the compressible body. The base is harder than the compressible body so that the base protectively covers the compressible body. The wound structure is disposed along the compressible body. The wound structure includes a wound cavity which extends from the top surface into the compressible body. The annular cavity extends into the compressible body about the wound cavity. The annular cavity permits movement and/or expansion of a wall defined by and between the wound cavity and the annular cavity when probed by a finger or instrument and packed with gauze, bandages, and the like during treatment of the wound structure to stem blood flow from a bleed tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2019Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 10115322Abstract: A torso simulant for use as a training device for stemming blood flow is presented. The simulant includes a mandrel, a compressible tube(s), a plate, a patch, a compressible layer, and a structure(s). The mandrel includes an exterior surface simulating at least a portion of a trunk. The compressible tube simulates a vascular element. The plate partially covers the mandrel and the compressible tube so that the compressible tube is disposed between the mandrel and the plate. The plate is movable toward the mandrel enabling compression of the compressible tube when a force is applied onto the plate. The patch completely covers the plate and partially covers the mandrel and the compressible tube. The patch is secured to the mandrel about a perimeter of the plate. The compressible tube extends from under the patch. The compressible layer covers the mandrel, the compressible tube and the patch. The compressible layer simulates skin. The structure is disposed along the compressible layer to simulate an injury.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2016Date of Patent: October 30, 2018Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 9280917Abstract: A medical simulant applicable to training personnel in the treatment of a traumatic injury is presented. The simulant replicates the appearance of a body part and is mechanically responsive to externally applied pressure so as to mimic the response of a vascular element when a tourniquet or the like is applied to the body part. The simulant includes a compressible body, a structure, a compressible tube, and a pair of plates. The compressible body replicates an arm, a leg, or another body region. The structure replicates an injury, either penetrating or non-penetrating, and is disposed along the compressible body. The compressible tube replicates a vascular element. The plates are separately disposed within the compressible body about the compressible tube. The plates are configured to deform the compressible tube so as to interrupt flow of a liquid simulating blood therein when a compressive force is applied onto the compressible body by a tourniquet or the like.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2013Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 8491309Abstract: A wearable wound simulant for simulating a battlefield wound is presented. The simulant facilitates a graphically and functionally realistic medical training tool. The simulant includes a skin replica and a wound. The skin replica is shaped to conformably contact and cover a body region either in part or whole. The skin replica further includes a plurality of bendable layers arranged to approximately replicate the visual and tactile properties of human tissue and at least one tear resistant layer composed of a fabric material disposed between two bendable layers. At least one tear resistant layer is less stretchable than the elastic limit of the bendable layers so as to prevent failure thereof. The bendable and tear resistant layers form a self-sealing structure. A three-dimensional wound structure is disposed along the skin replica so as to replicate the appearance and functionality of a penetrating or non-penetrating injury.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2012Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David Parry, Daniel Parry

Patent number: 8221129Abstract: A wearable wound simulant including a skin replica having the appearance of a particular region of the human body, examples including but not limited to a leg, arm, torso, or stomach, and a wound disposed along the skin replica is described. The skin replica includes a plurality of bendable layers arranged to replicate the visual and tactile properties of human tissues and at least one tear resistant layer comprised of a fabric material disposed between two bendable layers. The tear resistant layers are less stretchable than the bendable layers so as to prevent the bendable layers from stretching beyond their failure threshold. Design elements of the present invention facilitate the visual, tactile, and functional aspects of a battlefield wound so as to allow for the diagnosis of injuries associated therewith.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David Parry, Daniel Parry, Daniel Pipito, Brian Letizia, Morris Ravich, Daniel Smith

Patent number: 7891129Abstract: A magazine well plug used to render a weapon safe and/or to prevent sand, water, and other contaminants from entering a weapon is described. The magazine well plug includes a main body substantially shaped to conform to the interior of a magazine well, an optional flange substantially disposed about the main body, and an optional grip element disposed at one end of the main body facilitating insertion and removal of the plug with respect to the magazine well. The main body and flange are comprised of one or more compressible materials. The main body is dimensionally larger than one or more dimensions within a magazine well so as to require the main body to be compressed in part or whole when inserted into a magazine well. The invention avoids openings inherent with rigid plugs, thereby preventing solid and/or liquid contaminants from entering a magazine well.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2008Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Techline Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David Parry, Jr., Daniel Parry, Daniel Smith
