  • Patent number: 7515994
Abstract: An accurate blending module for adjusting the pH of solutions containing therapeutic proteins includes a recirculation loop that receives the therapeutic protein solution via a feed pump and an acid solution via an adjusting pump. The recirculation loop includes a recirculation pump and a pH sensor that detects the pH of the solution in the recirculation loop. A controller communicates with the pH sensor and the adjusting pump. The adjusting pump adds acid to the recirculation loop based on the pH readings taken by the pH sensor. The recirculation pump recirculates the therapeutic protein solution and acid in the recirculation loop so that it is mixed. As a result, the pH of the therapeutic protein solution is precisely controlled and adjusted in a non-destructive fashion.

  • Patent number: 7072742
Abstract: An accurate blending module for retrofitting existing laboratory or industrial systems or use as a standalone device and a method of use. The module includes a proportioning submodule that receives and merges at least two liquid feeds. The merged stream flows to a blending submodule. The resulting blended liquid stream flows through a detection submodule which detects a characteristic of the blended liquid stream. The detection submodule sends a corresponding signal to a controller. The controller adjusts the proportioning submodule based on the signal.

  • Patent number: 6395915
Abstract: A method separating tocotrienols from tocopherols and the isomers thereof on a large-scale or commercially feasible basis. Separation is accomplished using reverse phase partition liquid chromatography. The chromatography column is prepared using a stationary phase comprising a hydrophobic or aromatic reverse phase chromatography media. The mobile phase consists of a solvent which is capable of solubilizing the crude stock, tocotrienols and tocopherols. The chromatography column containing the stationary and mobile phases is loaded with a crude feed stock and the tocotrienols, tocopherols and/or isomers thereof are eluted at a predetermined linear velocity.
