  • Patent number: 8572555
Abstract: A method is provided for generating a test case for testing a program, which can include analyzing instructions of the program to identify basic blocks and superblocks, each basic block containing at least one executable instruction, and each superblock containing a plurality of basic blocks. The method can include executing instructions by a processor to perform determining respective weights of superblocks, each weight representing a number of basic blocks which require execution when the superblock is executed; determining the constraints which cause a superblock having a high weight to be executed, and using the determined constraints to generate a test case which, upon execution of the program, causes the high weight superblock to be executed.

  • Patent number: 8554825
Abstract: A system and method for modeling and evaluating resource requirements of services is disclosed. The system and method in one aspect enable describing an application session in a software model, for example, as a sequence of events in a sequence diagram, annotating the sequence diagram with information and using the sequence diagram and the information to create a mathematical model such as a Markov model that represents the application session. Once in Markov form the service can be analyzed. The system may include a user interface for allowing a user to enter annotations to the sequence diagram.

  • Patent number: 8554234
Abstract: A method of automatic calibration in which the simulation adapts itself to more closely resemble the actual network is provided. For a given network architecture and a probabilistic customer usage profile a simulation provides an estimate of key performance metrics. These simulated metrics are compared against actual measurements from the network. To the extent that they do not match within a prescribed tolerance, an iterative adaptive calibration procedure is used to perturb slightly the probabilistic model of network usage.

  • Patent number: 8527611
Abstract: A method of tailoring data streams transmitted to networked user devices is disclosed in which environment information associated with each device is stored at an agent located on those devices. This environment information may include information related to the hardware, interface and application capabilities of the particular device. In another embodiment, this environment information is transmitted and stored at an agent at a local network gateway. And in another embodiment, the environment information is then stored at a mirror agent located in a backbone network of a service provider. By referring to this environment information, a service provider can tailor the transmission of data streams, such as multimedia streams, to a device based on the capabilities of the device and the associated network.

  • Patent number: 8528060
Abstract: Efficient secure password protocols are constructed that remain secure against offline dictionary attacks even when a large, but bounded, part of the storage of a server responsible for password verification is retrieved by an adversary through a remote or local connection. A registration algorithm and a verification algorithm accomplish the goal of defeating a dictionary attack. A password protocol where a server, on input of a login and a password, carefully selects several locations from the password files, properly combines their content according to some special function, and stores the result of this function as a tag that can be associated with this password and used in a verification phase to verify access by users.

  • Patent number: 8520673
Abstract: A method and communication device for routing unicast and multicast messages. The method for routing a unicast message includes receiving a first control packet including routing parameters from a group header node, updating a routing table based upon the routing parameters, receiving a second control packet including additional routing parameters from a group node, updating the routing table based upon the additional routing parameters and generating a forwarding table from the routing table when both of the updated steps are completed. The unicast message is routed based upon the forwarding table. A method for routing a multicast message comprises receiving the multicast message, determining if a multicast group destination for the multicast message is in a multicast forwarding table (MFT), determining if the multicast message has been previously forwarded and forwarding the multicast message if the message was not previously forwarded and the multicast group destination is in the MFT.

  • Patent number: 8522013
Abstract: A set of certificate management methods designed to significantly reduce or eliminate reliance on infrastructure network connectivity after vehicles are sold uses techniques to support certificate management operations in order to reduce the frequency which vehicles need to communicate with the Certificate Authorities (CAs) and the amount of data that needs to be exchanged between vehicles and the CA. These methods include, for example, approaches to use one-way communications and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications to replace expired certificates, approaches to use one-way communications and V2V communications to replace revoked certificates, and use of a small subset of vehicles as proxies to help retrieve and distribute Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) and replacement certificates. The combination of these techniques leads to solutions that can eliminate the need for roadside infrastructure networks completely.

  • Patent number: 8514808
Abstract: A media-independent handover (MIH) environment supports a MIH function that uses a mapping table to communicate with other MIH functions using a MIH transport protocol. The MIH function updates the mapping table upon receipt of a message having fields to invoke an operation. The operation can update an existing mapping or delete a mapping. The operation also can update a lifetime value for a mapping for a particular address. The mapping table includes mappings. A mapping includes a MIH function identifier, a list of transport addresses, and a lifetime value.

  • Publication number: 20130197958
Abstract: A critical date management system includes a critical date management module (CDM), project management system, and flow management system in which the CDM dynamically and automatically links activities and tasks in an overall project. Once a project plan is submitted to the CDM, the individual tasks are dynamically assembled together along with all dependencies and temporal data to create a complete end-to-end process flow containing all of the interdependent tasks. The assembled flow is then submitted to the flow management system for execution. The modular approach allows for the dynamic creation of a complete end-to-end delivery flow for different projects and project changes without the need for complex contingency logic. The result is a service delivery process that is customized for each new project. Additionally, when changes are made to an active project plan, manual recalculating of coordinated activities will be performed by the critical date management system.
