Abstract: A compactor wheel for reducing the amount of material build-up, providing sufficient tractive forces, and effectively holding loose debris to prevent fly-away is disclosed. The compactor wheel includes a hub mountable to an axle of a compaction machine and a rim mounted around an outer circumference of the hub, with the rim including a wrapper having an inner circumferential edge and an outer circumferential edge. The compactor wheel also includes a plurality of cleat pads formed on the wrapper that each extend axially outward from the wrapper, with the plurality of cleat pads being spaced apart from one another on the wrapper such that a valley is formed between each adjacent pair of cleat pads. A plurality of cleats is affixed to each of the plurality of cleat pads and extends radially outward therefrom.

Abstract: A compactor cleat includes a bottom face affixable to a compactor wheel and having a perimeter defining an outline of the compactor cleat, a cutting face distal from the bottom face and radially outward from the compactor wheel, a pair of side faces extending between the bottom face and the cutting face, and a pair of traction faces positioned between the pair of side surfaces on opposing sides of the compactor cleat and extending between the bottom face and the cutting face. Each traction face comprises a bi-facial traction face that includes a first section including a sloped surface extending downwardly and outwardly from the cutting face towards the bottom face for less than a full height of the compactor cleat, and a second section formed adjacent the first section that has a concave surface that forms a transition between the second section and the perimeter of the bottom face.

The compactor includes a base member affixable to a compactor wheel and having a bottom portion and a center flange, with the center flange extending upwardly from the bottom portion to form an upper ridge and being generally aligned along a center line of the base member. The compactor cleat also includes a cap member secured to the base member and positioned thereover so as to cover at least a portion of the base member, with the cap member having an arrangement of openings configured to receive the center flange therein. The center flange of the base member and the arrangement of openings formed in the cap member are configured to provide for a size-on-size fit between the base member and the cap member, so as to secure the cap member to the base member.

The compactor cleat includes a base affixable to a compactor wheel and a body secured to the base and extending radially outward from the base, with the body comprising an arrangement of protrusions generally dividing the body into four protrusion quadrants. Each of the four protrusion quadrants is angled away from other respective protrusion quadrants such that forcing the protrusions of the cleat into a malleable material causes the malleable material to diversify along the four protrusion quadrants.

The compactor cleat includes a first tooth angled upward away from the compactor wheel in a first direction and a second tooth positioned adjacent the first tooth and being angled upward away from the compactor wheel in a second direction opposite from the first direction. The first tooth and the second tooth are formed such that an inner edge of the first tooth intersects an inner edge of the second tooth to form a scissor-shaped junction between the first tooth and the second tooth.

Abstract: The present invention provides a swing-away stair assembly including a pivot bracket assembly for supporting a stair body for pivotal movement on a work machine, such as a landfill compactor. The pivot bracket assembly includes a stair support sub-assembly having an attachment portion for attaching to the stair body and a pivot portion spaced from the attachment portion. The pivot bracket assembly further includes a pivot mount sub-assembly for attaching the swing-away assembly to the lateral side of the machine, the pivot mount sub-assembly including a mounting portion for attaching to the lateral side of the machine and a pivot portion spaced from the mounting portion. A hinge member cooperates with the stair support sub-assembly and the pivot mount sub-assembly whereby the stair support sub-assembly is supported for pivotal movement relative to the pivot mount sub-assembly for supporting the stair for pivotal movement relative to the lateral side of the machine.

Abstract: The present invention includes an axle guard system which prevents, or at least substantially inhibits, cable, rope, wire and other refuse and debris from wrapping around the axle of a compaction machine, behind a compactor wheel mounted on the axle, during the operation of the compaction machine in compacting refuse. The compaction machine is of the type used, for example, in landfills or transfer facilities to compact (i.e., increase the density of) the refuse disposed therein. The compactor wheel comprises a hub mountable to the compaction machine axle, a rim mounted around the outer circumference of the hub, a plurality of cleats mounted to the face of the rim, and the axle guard system. The axle guard system can comprise at least one circumferential barrier extending above the face and adjacent the inner circumferential edge of the rim and/or a cleat-free area extending widthwise from the inner circumferential edge of the rim and across the rim toward the outer circumferential edge of the rim.
