  • Patent number: 4248300
Abstract: A casing is secured in a well bore in the earth's surface. A liner is secured to the casing and extends downwardly from the casing with an upwardly open receptacle forming part of the liner and facing up in the casing. The liner is provided with a recess and a retrievable landing nipple having recess means therein is secured in the recess in the liner. A production string is arranged in the casing and sealably and slidably engages within the upwardly open receptacle. Retrievable plug means can be moved down through the production string and seated in the landing nipple therebelow to close off flow between the liner and production string for carrying out desired operations in the well bore above the plug without killing the well, or retrievable instrument means can be run through the string and seated in the landing nipple without interfering with flow from the formation.

  • Patent number: 4106565
Abstract: A tubular member is provided with seals thereon for sealing in a liner receptacle supported in a well string in a well bore. Expandable seal means are provided on the tubular member with actuating means for expanding the expandable members into engagement with the well string above the receptacle, and releasable retaining means engage the actuating means with the tubular member to retain the actuating means in a non activated position until the releasable retaining means are actuated. Additional means secure the actuating means on the tubular member to inhibit premature release of the releasable retaining means as the seal nipple packer is lowered through the well string to be positioned in the receptacle. Slip segments are releasably connected to an expander cone, with both being mounted on the tubular member in longitudinal spaced relation to the actuating means at the other end of the expandable seal means.

  • Patent number: 3999605
Abstract: A tubular member or mandrel is provided with an outer housing and a cone shaped enlargement. Segmented cone means is slidably supported on the mandrel between the mandrel and the outer housing and the mandrel includes a portion spaced radially therefrom to define an annular cylinder with the outer housing having a piston portion sealably fitting within the annular cylinder. Slip segments are provided on the outer housing.

  • Patent number: 3993128
Abstract: A tubular mandrel is provided with outer housing means slidable thereon. Slip segments are formed on the outer housing means and a cone shaped enlargement is formed on the mandrel. Segmented cone means is slidably mounted on the mandrel between the mandrel and outer housing means. Cooperating latch means including a J-shaped slot in the outer housing means receive lug means positioned on the mandrel. Bow spring means on the housing means engage the well bore casing as the tool is lowered into the well bore to position the lug in the J-slot so as to inhibit relative longitudinal and rotational movement between the mandrel and outer housing means. When the mandrel is moved in the other direction in the well bore casing and rotated, the outer housing is restrained by the bow spring means engagement with the well bore casing.
