Patent number: 4140033Abstract: Peeling apparatus includes opposite clamping devices engageable with opposite ends of a workpiece for carrying same longitudinally through a cutter head. Support bearings for the clamping devices are located on opposite sides of the cutter head, and are longitudinally movable for maintaining same as close as possible to the workpiece end faces. This minimizes the length of the clamping devices between the support bearings and the workpiece end faces, and thereby reduces vibrations. The support bearings include hydrostatic support devices transversely engaging the clamping devices to minimize vibration by eliminating transverse play between the parts.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1976Date of Patent: February 20, 1979Assignee: Th. Patent number: 4127999Abstract: A gripping arrangement for longitudinally advancing elongated workpieces, particularly for use in a drawing bench, a stripping machine and the like, comprises a pair of supports which are mounted on guide rails for movement in paths which are parallel to one another and to the direction of advancement of the workpiece, and co-extensive. Jaw elements are mounted on the supports for movement therewith and for displacement between closed positions in which they engage, and open positions in which they are disengaged from, the workpiece. The gripping arrangement is located downstream of a die and operates in such a manner that always at least one pair of the jaw elements associated with one of the supports engages the workpiece and advances the same in a given direction, thus drawing the workpiece through the die.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1977Date of Patent: December 5, 1978Assignee: Th. Patent number: 4075914Abstract: Elongated workpieces held against rotation at the entrance side of peeling tools are peeled at a substantially constant predetermined rate from the leading ends toward the trailing ends thereof until the trailing ends are adjacent the holding device. The remainder of the workpieces to the trailing ends thereof are then peeled at a slower rate than the predetermined rate.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1976Date of Patent: February 28, 1978Assignee: Th. Kieserling & AlbrechtInventor: Wilhelm Schweer

Patent number: 4056958Abstract: A method of straightening elongated workpieces of circular or other cross section comprises subjecting a portion of the workpiece during its movement in longitudinal direction thereof to rotary bending forces so that successive curvatures of the workpiece in a zone trailing said portion in said direction gradually increase to thereby surpass the yield point of the material of the workpiece and in a zone leading said portion in said direction gradually decrease in such a manner that the decrease of the curvatures and the corresponding decrease of the plasticity of the workpiece occurs slower than the increase thereof, and an apparatus for carrying out the method.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1976Date of Patent: November 8, 1977Assignee: Th. Kieserling & AlbrechtInventors: Ralf Fangmeier, Lothar Bracht

Patent number: 4047470Abstract: Apparatus for machining the surface of an elongated rigid workpiece passing therethrough in a predetermined direction along a path. The apparatus includes at least one station having opposed tools for engaging opposite sides of the workpiece. The tools have tool axes extending generally perpendicular to the path. The tools are mounted for movement of their axes toward and away from the path, and for tilting movement of their axes relative to the path in a plane extending generally perpendicular to the path.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1975Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Assignee: Th. Kieserling & AlbrechtInventors: Horst Lorenz, Rolf Eckart Koch, Reiner Kahlhofer

Patent number: 4038861Abstract: A feed channel for elongated workpieces includes a plurality of adjustable workpiece receiving openings. Each opening is formed by a plurality of profiled segments including at least one movable segment. The movable segments are movable to expose the openings for lateral introduction thereinto of an elongated workpiece. The movable segments are then moved to reduce the size of the openings and engage the workpiece for at least partially straightening same. The movable segments are then moved to increase the size of the openings for providing longitudinal and rotational movement of the workpiece relative to the openings.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1975Date of Patent: August 2, 1977Assignee: Th. Kieserling & AlbrechtInventors: Heinz Hartkopf, Horst Schneider
