Abstract: A wedging device locatable between two components and consisting of a plurality of parts connected together such that the device remains as a single cohesive assembly during all phases of operation. The wedging device comprises a spool having two inclined surfaces and a pair of wedges arranged such that each wedge is able to be moved up one of the inclined surfaces, respectively. The device also comprises a rotatable threaded member which extends through an aperture formed in the spool and is received by the wedges. Rotation of the threaded member when the device is located between the two components causes the wedges to move toward each other up the respective inclined surfaces of the spool and be pressed against one of the components to thereby force the spool against the other said component.

Abstract: A drive nut (3,7) for a rock bolt, incorporating a nut (7) with a crimped protrusion (9), and an insert (3). The protrusion is crimped to form a plurality of lips (8) adapted to retain insert (3) in the head of the nut (7), the crimping being effected by a pressing tool having a number of preferably square bars. By this crimping technique, the drive nut (3,7) can be fabricated in such a way that the breaking torque required to expel the insert (3) from the nut (7) can be limited to a predetermined range.
Abstract: A collar for a friction rock stabilizer and a friction rock stabilizer incorporating such collar. The collar is shaped having a domed outer surface to allow improved alignment between the collar and a mine bearing plate used between the collar and the mine surface when the stabilizer tube is inserted in a bore in a mine roof or wall.
