Abstract: A system (2; 4) for measuring the movement of a birthing mother in a birthing pool (1; 3), the system comprises: a) a birthing pool (1; 3), the pool (1; 3) comprising a base (11; 31) and a peripheral wall (12; 32) upstanding from the base (11; 31), the pool (1; 3) further comprising at least one motion sensor (21, 22; 41, 42), the motion sensor (21, 22; 41, 42) being located adjacent the peripheral wall (12; 32) and/or on the base (11; 31), and wherein the at least one motion sensor (21, 22; 41, 42) is configured or configurable to detect the movement of the birthing mother in the pool (1; 3); b) a processing means, e.g. a processor, operatively connected to the at least one motion sensor (21, 22; 41, 42); wherein the system is configured to monitor motion of the mother whilst located within the birthing pool (1; 3).
Abstract: An apparatus for water birthing in which an occupant of the tub is raised. The apparatus may include a tub, a stand and a connector, the tub having a floor with an outlet therethrough and a peripheral side wall, the stand being configured to support the tub, in use, at or adjacent a terminal edge or lip of the peripheral side wall such that the floor of the tub is spaced from the ground upon which the stand rests. The connector may be fluidly connected or connectable to the outlet, removably and fluidly connected or connectable to a drainage apparatus, and accessible during use of the water birthing apparatus. Assistants of an occupant of the tub have reduced distances to bend and/or reach when assisting (e.g. lifting or otherwise moving) the occupant.
Abstract: A birthing pool for holding water comprises a floor 2 having at least one inflatable chamber 20 and a perimeter wall 3 having at least one inflatable chamber (30a, b, c), wherein there is further provided a removable liner 5 arranged, in use, to line, or at least lie adjacent at least some of the internal surfaces of the pool 1. The pool 1 may be ovoid in shape, it may have handles 4 for ease of use and may incorporate an integral step.
