Patents Assigned to The Grav-i-Flo Corporation
  • Patent number: 5279074
Abstract: A centrifugal disk finishing apparatus utilizing dry media comprising a finishing chamber including an upstanding wall and a rotatable disk forming the bottom wall of the chamber. The disk is mounted in such a manner that a precision gap, known as a seal, is provided between the lower edge of the upstanding wall and the periphery of the disk. The seal extends upwardly and inwardly from the periphery of the disk. The construction of the wall and the support of the wall and disk is such that the disk and wall are rigidly maintained in concentric relation in all conditions of operation and load and therefore gaseous fluid under low pressure utilized in the finishing apparatus can flow readily from a chamber beneath the disk through the seal during operation of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5058326
Abstract: A tilting system for centrifugal finishing machines which include a finishing chamber or tub in which parts or work pieces are treated and which is pivoted about a horizontal axis for tilting to remove the parts comprising a hydro-mechanical system which permits free movement from an upright to a tilted position and retards movement from a tilted position to an upright position. The hydro-mechanical system preferably includes a hydraulic linear actuator which has a piston rod with pistons at each end and is connected by a rack and pinion arrangement to the tub. A line extends from one end of the actuator to the other and a one way flow control valve is provided in the line. The tilting motion may be applied manually or by power.

  • Patent number: 4730417
Abstract: A finishing method and apparatus wherein a tub containing loose abrasive material is rotated at high speeds about a vertical axis to cause finishing media to form a layer of media along the side wall of the tube. One or more workpieces to be finished are supported in the media and are rotated about a vertical axis coincident or parallel to the axis of the tub such that a rapid cutting and finishing action is provided by the relative movement of the tub and the workpieces. The method and apparatus further comprises removing compound continuously from the lower part of the tub and cooling the material and returning it to the tub.
