Patent number: 10717472Abstract: A floor structure is assembled from a plurality of extruded aluminum planks that extend laterally across the bed of a truck floor positioned on an undercarriage of a center beam and cross beams. The planks each have one or more ribs on their underside to strengthen the floor structure and provide a mechanical means for connecting adjacent planks together. Each plank is configured with a female end rib and a male end rib that interlock to restrain movement relative the adjacent planks in all directions except the lateral direction. Side rails are attached to the floor structure at the edges of the plank bed to prevent movement of the planks in the lateral direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2018Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: Knapheide Manufacturing CompanyInventors: John Wiberg, Manoj Patil, Justin Steele, Richard Baze, Lance Jones, Lance Gronewold

Publication number: 20190275951Abstract: A self fixturing sidepack cabinet for a utility truck body has right and left doorjamb components that are positioned to the right and left of the cabinet door in the closed position. The door closes against door stop components positioned around the doorjamb, and extending inward. The door stop components may have a flexible edging component fitted on them around the doorway. The top door stop component extends from an upper door frame component configured with tabs bent 90 degrees from the door stop surface. The tabs slide behind the left and right doorjamb components to ensure the top of the door opening is dimensionally correct and installed at the proper angles.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2018Publication date: September 12, 2019Applicant: The Knapheide Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Justin Steele, Richard Baze, Lance Jones, Mark Rose

Publication number: 20190077327Abstract: Various embodiments of a foldable truck mounted ladder rack are disclosed that provide a user with increased leverage so as to reduce the effort required to access a ladder stowed on the ladder rack. The ladder rack folds between a stowed position on top of the utility vehicle to a deployed position over the side of the vehicle. The foldable truck mounted ladder rack includes four movable link arms and five pivot points, making it easier to load and unload a ladder. When the ladder rack module reaches the tipping point between the stowed position and the deployed position gravity takes over and the user is no longer required to exert effort to continue opening the ladder rack module. Upon reaching the tipping point the ladder rack module will simply drop into the deployed position. A damping cylinder is provided to control the speed at which the ladder rack module drops from the tipping point into the deployed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2017Publication date: March 14, 2019Applicant: The Knapheide Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Jyotirmoy Saha, Lucas Creasy, Rahul Sonkul
