  • Patent number: 4364557
Abstract: A work control apparatus in a bicycle exerciser having a driven member rotatively mounted on an exerciser frame. The work control apparatus includes a rotatively mounted knob connected to a brake for the driven member for selectively determining the braking pressure exerted on the driven member. The brake includes a lever pivotally attached to the exerciser frame and having a brake roller at one end engaging the exerciser driven member and the knob is adjustably connected to the other end of the brake lever and is rotatable to exert a predetermined braking pressure between the roller and driven member. The knob is drivingly connected to a rotatively mounted indicator wheel for rotating the wheel an angular distance less than the corresponding angular distance of the knob upon rotation of the knob incident to adjusting the braking pressure.

  • Patent number: 4289309
Abstract: A work control assembly in a bicycle exerciser having a driven member rotatively mounted on a frame. The work control assembly includes a brake which engages the driven member. A lever is pivotally carried by the frame and connected to the brake for exerting braking pressure on the driven member. The brake is spring loaded, the spring tends to resist the pivotal movement of the lever in one direction. A pivotally mounted control arm engages the lever to pivot the lever and to hold the lever in a selected pivoted position against the action of the spring loading. The lever and the control arm are pivotally mounted to a plate which is attached to the frame. The plate includes a plurality of holes located along an arcuate path. The control arm selectively interfits the holes for holding the lever in a predetermined position for determining braking pressure applied to the rotatively mounted driven member.

  • Patent number: 4265079
Abstract: A grass catcher having upper and lower hollow sections, each providing sidewalls of substantially equal depth and a transverse wall extending between said sidewalls. The upper section is connected to the lower section to provide a relatively deep container adapted to receive grass cuttings in a grass catcher mode. The upper and lower sections are nestable, one within the other, in a storage mode and can be disposed about the lawn mower motor assembly to facilitate shipping.

  • Patent number: 4235436
Abstract: A work control apparatus in a bicycle exerciser having a driven member rotatively mounted on a exerciser frame. The work control apparatus includes a housing mounted to the frame and providing support for a spring loaded, pivotally mounted lever connected to a brake assembly for selectively determining the braking pressure exerted on the driven member. A sliding member is mounted to an inclined bearing plane on the housing, and is selectively engageable with a bearing portion of the lever to hold it in a predetermined position. The lever bearing portion is rotatable about the pivot axis to define an acute axis of intersection with the inclined bearing plane, facilitating the bearing engagement of the sliding member and the engagement of the sliding member with the lever provides a visual indication of the pressure exerted on the driven member by the brake assembly.

  • Patent number: 4217747
Abstract: A grass catcher having a container and lid operatively attached to the lawn mower to receive grass cuttings in a grass catching mode and nestably related on the lawn mower in a storage mode for shipping. In the grass catching mode the lid is mounted to the lawn mower handle and includes downturned side flanges provided with a longitudinal guide track. The container is relatively deep and includes a rearwardly formed chute portion and upper side flanges engageable with the guide track, so that the container can be selectively separated from the lid. In the storage mode the container is inverted and disposed over the lawn mower motor assembly with the chute disposed rearwardly. The lid is nestably received by the container and can be shipped with the lawn mower in a container only slightly larger than that required to ship the lawn mower itself.

  • Patent number: 4206914
Abstract: A work control apparatus in a bicycle exerciser having a driven member rotatively mounted on an exerciser frame, the work control apparatus having a rotatively mounted knob connected to a brake for the driven member for selectively determining the braking pressure exerted on the driven member, the knob being drivingly connected to a rotatively mounted wheel for rotating the wheel an angular distance less than the corresponding angular distance of the knob upon rotation of the knob incident to adjusting the braking pressure. An indicator on the wheel indicates the braking pressure applied by the brake to the driven member at a particular rotatively adjusted position of the knob. The knob and wheel are interconnected to intermittently engage to rotate the wheel in stepped angular increments upon continuous angular movement of the knob. The connection between the knob and wheel is provided by a plurality of angularly spaced drive pins intermittently engaging the wheel in a plurality of angularly spaced notches.

  • Patent number: 4151702
Abstract: A grass catcher having a lid with downturned side flanges, and a transverse web seating on a pair of rearwardly extending handle members. An interconnecting member on the side walls of a container selectively engages guide members on the side flanges of the lid for detachably connecting the container to the lid. The guide members are upwardly facing surfaces and provide rearwardly opening tracks. The interconnecting members are laterally extending flanges received in the tracks and seating on the upwardly facing surfaces. A pair of bottom opening, longitudinal channels in the lid web receive the handle members for holding the lid on the handle members before, during and after attachment of the container to the lid. A bail is pivotally mounted to the side walls at the front of the container, the bail having a portion seating on the laterally extending container flanges in its folded position and being received in the guide tracks of the lid when the container is attached.

  • Patent number: 4079931
Abstract: An exercycle frame for an exercycle having a rider's seat, pedals and handle bars in a conventional arrangement, with the pedals driving a drag wheel below the handle bars through a conventional, sprocket-chain connection. The framework, formed of tubular members welded together, includes a longitudinal body tube extending from the rear floor point to frame forks at the front which carry the wheel. The seat structure upstands from this body tube and a pedal-bearing-retainer tube is attached to the underside of this body tube. Transversely disposed stabilizer tubes with extending arms at the base of this framework holds it in an upright, stable position.
