Patent number: 4906057Abstract: A closed portable card file comprises a base, cover, retractable carrying handle and a releasable latch to hold the cover closed. The back of the cover is square and extends down behind the back of the base and is hinged near the bottom of the base so that when the card file is in closed condition the back of the cover is approximately perpendicular to the base and when the card file is open, the back of the cover lies approximately in the plane of the base. Hence the card file can stand upright on the back of the cover when closed. When the card file is open and rests on a horizontal surface, the cover stands upright and is retained in open position by its weight. The base has rails for receiving notched cards and guides, and ribs which are parallel to the rails and are of a height to engage lower edges of the cards and guides and thereby reduce wear on the notches which receive the rails.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1983Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Assignee: Rolodex CorporationInventors: Richard A. Davi, Hildaur L. Neilsen

Patent number: 4688457Abstract: A double duty paper punch for punching selected combinations of holes in up to fifty sheets of paper comprises a die-cast base with a steel die plate of angle cross section seated on the base with a downwardly projecting flange received in a recess in the base. An elongate punch holder, also a die casting, has a rear portion seated on a rear portion of the die plate and a forward portion spaced upwardly from the die plate to receive the paper to be punched. Rivets through aligned holes in the punch holder, die plate and base secure these parts together. The punch holder has a plurality of punch-receiving bores aligned with holes in the punch plate and base selectively to receive individual punches, each having a stem and a head with a spring acting between the head and the punch holder to hold the punch in raised portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1985Date of Patent: August 25, 1987Assignee: Rolodex CorporationInventors: Hildaur L. Neilsen, Richard A. Davi

Patent number: 4231624Abstract: In a rotary file comprising a case open at the top, a card-holding rotor rotatably mounted in the case and a cover rotatable about the axis of the rotor from a closed position to an open position, a lock mounted in a side wall of the case near the back has a locking member which, in locked position, engages a rear portion of the cover when in closed position so as to keep the cover from rotating to open position. When the lock is turned to unlocked position, the locking member is moved clear of the cover so as to allow the cover to open.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1978Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Assignee: The Rolodex CorporationInventor: Hildaur L. Patent number: 4165575Abstract: A plurality of rotatable card holders are disposed end-to-end on a horizontal fixed shaft supported at its ends by a tubular frame. Each of the card holders comprises two coaxial sections each of which is generally cylindrical with a peripheral web for holding the cards. Each of the cards has two notches for receiving the webs of the card holder so as to mount the card removably and hingedly on the card holder. At one end of each card holder there is provided a capstan having radially projecting spokes which extend out beyond the cards to provide means for manually rotating the card holder on the shaft. Between the two sections of each card holder there is provided a brake device comprising two H-shape members disposed respectively on opposite sides of the shaft and connected by two screws.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1977Date of Patent: August 28, 1979Assignee: Rolodex CorporationInventor: Hildaur L. Patent number: 4036088Abstract: Punching device for punching paper comprises a frame, a cooperating base supporting the frame, a plurality of individual punches removably and changeably mounted in the frame and an operating handle for actuating the punches. The frame is made of a single sheet of metal which is bent to form a U-shaped punch holding section comprising an upper portion, a lower portion and a portion connecting the upper and lower portions at one side and a die section which is joined with the lower portion of the punch holding section by a fold line and underlies such lower portion with an intervening space to receive the material to be punched. The upper portion and lower portion of the punch holding section have aligned bearing holes removably to receive and guide spring biased punches and the punching section has aligned punching holes to receive the lower ends of the punches when actuated by the operating handle.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1976Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: Rolodex CorporationInventor: Henry Ruskin

Patent number: 4035938Abstract: A rotary card holder has a rotor which carries a multiplicity of cards and is rotatably mounted between two upright supports of a case by means of a shaft which projects from the ends of the rotor and extends through the supports. The rotor is manually rotatable by means of knobs on the ends of the shaft. A V-shaped leaf spring in one of the knobs frictionally engages an annular boss on the case to retain the rotor in a position to which it is turned.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1976Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: Rolodex CorporationInventor: Hildaur L.
