Patent number: 8550672Abstract: An electronic ballast mounting arrangement for HID luminaires on a vertical pole for sports lighting is disclosed. The mounting arrangement comprises an elongate channel to which a weather tight enclosure is fixedly secured. Electronic ballast units are provided in pairs immediately above and/or below the enclosure. Male/female connectors are arranged between end plates of the electronic ballast units and exterior panels of the enclosure so that electrical connections between the ballast units and components on the interior of the enclosure can be made without exposed cables simply by sliding partially pre-mounted ballast units a limited distance toward the adjacent enclosure panel to mate the complemental parts of the connectors, after which the fasteners holding the ballast units to the support are tightened down.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2011Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: The Shane GroupInventors: Rodney L. Sullivan, Nicholas D. Page

Patent number: 8226491Abstract: An athletic field is constructed using side-by-side conjoined layers of resilient synthetic material placed over a drain blanket and extending to a peripheral trench drain. The primary material construction is a rollable layer approximately 4 feet wide by 200 feet long comprising a dimpled polyethylene core material with bonded top and bottom thin, flexible geotechnic fabric layers. A flange and flap system along one edge receives the opposite edge of the joining strip to bond the laterally adjoining layers together in a shingling or tiered manner to promote drainage and to keep water out of the resilient pliable structure. The top surface is overlaid with artificial turf.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2011Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: The Shane GroupInventors: Dwight C. Shaneour, Evan J. Parry

Publication number: 20100105492Abstract: A recreational play area meeting a fall height requirement and being constructed essentially of one or more layers of shock absorbing synthetic material such as dimpled polystyrene, running to a perimeter structure consisting of nailer boards and collector drain. The shock absorbing layer is overlaid with polyethylene synthetic turf filled with a sand/rubber mixture for added shock attenuation.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2008Publication date: April 29, 2010Applicant: THE SHANE GROUPInventors: Dwight C. Patent number: 7703249Abstract: A cove molding of tri-planar design comprising a floor mounted base leg, a wall mounted vertical leg and a sloping transition leg integrally connected between the two. A cap anchor is provided along with inside and outside corner transition pieces to provide a smooth flush continuum of cove molding in virtually any structural layout. The cove molding can also be used as a flashing member.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2007Date of Patent: April 27, 2010Assignee: The Shane GroupInventor: Alexander L. Rachak

Publication number: 20080248887Abstract: A method of constructing a play area with an all-weather resilient surface, the thickness and degree of resilience of which is objectively related to the height of the play equipment to be erected on the surface of the play area. Thicker, more resilient surfaces underlie higher equipment or decks. Single and multiple thickness surfaces can be constructed using a mixture of shredded rubber in a urethane binder. The cured surface is covered with a synthetic turf.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 3, 2007Publication date: October 9, 2008Applicant: The Shane GroupInventor: Dwight Curtis Shaneour
